Lipa Schmeltzer - once described as “the Lady Gaga of Hasidic music” - is a world-famous Jewish singer with 18 solo albums to date. And while many people know Lipa’s songs, far fewer know his journey of mental health - a story he never expected to unfold.
With raw vulnerability and beautiful passion, Lipa opens up about every step that led him to today. His lessons are immeasurably important.

I'm a Noachide that has schizoaffective disorder. It's basically schizophrenia and bipolar wrapped into one. It really does make me less able to function, but Hashem has been good to me, and I'm doing alright right now, currently on meds I'm perfectly normal.

This was amazing. I've been following Lipa's journey since my yeshiva days and each time he opens up he is more insightful and on point on even more topics. Thank you Dovid for letting him speak uninterrupted. This was really valuable. And like Lipa said, in today's day and age videos like this will gain more traction than those in power who try to suppress.

I’m so impressed with the whey Lipa is speaking with such honesty So many of us have those problems, I can relate to what I saw in my son, the same thing that how Lipa went through his childhood and we’re not religious people, but it’s so common among all of us

Had a frum chassidish therapist, who was cheating with someone I was dating (among many other women he took advantage of). Still traumatized by it until this day.

I am so, so sorry you went thru such a horror story! Can't blame someone who had that experience for being completely turned off by therapists. I do wanna point out that not all therapists are created equal. There's been an explosion of trained professionals in the Jewish world and in the world in general, which makes it just like anything else in life - there's the complete range from the awful to the awesome. It's important that people go into therapy with a very open mind, ready and willing to face the fact that it might take a few - or more - tries to find the right one. When you actually get to that healing it makes it all worth it. Wishing everyone luck on their journeys

😢 I'm really sad for you. I'm addicted to a kind of Pgam HaBrit, not to say lashon hara about myself but to inspire you, also my goyish therapist (i'm a noahide) said it's ok and even healthy for a woman to "discover herself". BeEzrat HaShem I'll be able to move not to see his face again. My advice is if you'd like to keep talking about it with your parents, don't be afraid, and also learn Mussar from Rabbi Yaron Reuven because it was from 5 years of sadness that led me to this addiction. Sadness leads to many serious problems, you could destroy yourself without noticing it like what happened to me. Treat it now as it only gets worse and the yetzer hara will make you sin chas v'shalom. So, like Rav Shalom Arush says: cry to HaShem for him to give you happiness and Emunah.

Let's not waste our time being sad or bored, because it'll lead the yetzer hara into our minds to think about sinning. Let's read books of Mussar and Emunah, both Chessed and Guevurah

Therapists are often incompetent and unreliable. The best therapy is the Mindbloom therapy -cheaper and more effective. You can be your own therapist.

Bottom line is. The frum world is full of cover up, lot of facade, lot of guilt, arrogance, living with an "image". Underestimating the level of repression and trauma that exists. And to what end? To create an image that we know it all, have it all figured out, that all these issues exist by everyone out there IE the non religious or non jews, but "we" have it all figured out!

@youtubeaddict1 you definitely got a point that we need to stay away from victimhood and play it smart even if we were mistreated. Not gonna argue with that. Lipa however brings something entirely different to the table. He's talking truths that everyone feels but nobody would dare say. We need such a voice out there, if only for the validation people get from it (I, for one). People choose to hush and play it smart all the time, and for good reason. Lipa chose to play it sincere and take the blows that come with it. I wish more of us would have the courage to do that. The world may or may not have been a better, less judgemental place for it.
