Hi Fr Mark, I would totally add to this; pray the Seven Sorrows chaplet daily (one of the promises is the gift of discernment), read the daily gospel daily and underline what line’s speak to you, sit quietly in the adoration chapel with a prayer journal and write down any thoughts or images or memories or lines or lyrics from songs that come to your mind, then ask God, what are you saying through these Oh Lord. Weekly confession also to clear out the enemy’s voice. Have a spiritual director if possible. Attend a charismatic prayer group weekly. Read up on Ignatian discernment (which is how to discern God’s voice).

How did he do it among the Jews? Does his mode of operation change much from that time in history (Matthew 23:1-3)? Can God speak through sinners (John 11:49-51)?" The Catholic Church did not "invent" the rapture of Mary that Elijah the prophet also experienced. Do the research. The story of how Mary died has been around from the first century. The Eastern Orthodox also believe it. The NT is a small book. It can't hold ALL of Christian history.
