thanks for your feedback, right now there is not a complete list of which skates are heat moldable and which are not. but on our website and in every good shops info texts about each product there should always be the information if the product is heat moldable or not. tau skates right now are not heat moldable due to their special production with compression molded carbon. swell, kaze, v. and lots of others are heat moldable. plastic hard boots like the imperial skates and the next skates are not heat moldable, but do come with heat moldable liners from myfit.
@PowerslideInlineskates
@PowerslideInlineskates 6 жыл бұрын
you can try to felx the shell at the pressure points, but we as powerslide would not recommend that, as it weakens the plastic of the boot and might mess with its lifetime and stability. lots of times different insoles, arch supports and heat molding the myfit liners can work wonders, too.

Q: im a beginner to skating and really like the swell fit 100s from my short review. do you have to heat mold them? is this recomended always or just if they dont fit perfectly? My right foot is 28cm of length where my left one is 27.7cm. Would you recommend 44-45 or 42-43?
@PowerslideInlineskates
@PowerslideInlineskates 4 жыл бұрын
thanks for the feedback. glad you like them! for heat molding: this is only an option if you tend to have pressure points and want to get a better fit. if your skates fit nicely, there is no need to heat mold them. for sizing, we always recommend the sizing chart on our product pages. in case of two different size feet, we recommend going with the bigger size, so in your case, try size EU 44 with a length of 285mm for a good fitting skate feeling.

We don't really push it for the swell anymore, since it has a pretty low impact on the fit, it does help, but not a ton. We are fairly confident that a correct heatmolding wont break the skate, so much so that heatmolding doesn't void the warranty on the skate nor does it impact your ability to return the skate. - Kasper

This could help the fit in case of feet with half size? I explain: my feet are EU38,5 in the largest part but EU37 in lenght, so I bought a EU39 in order to have enough room on the inside-sides of the skates, where it always hurt my little fingers, but on the other hand there is a little too much space in the lenght. sorry to hear that. it is a tough question to answer, as everyone in the world has different feet and tehre is nothing like a universal fit to every person. besides heat molding, there are still numerous way to change the fit of your swell skates if you exprience fitting issues with pressure points. besides heat molding and pushing the painful part carefully to the outside, you can also: experiment with frame placement. depending if you tend to fall to the inside with your ankle (x legs), you can mount the frame more on the inside of your skates, or vice versa with bow leg stand, you can put your frames to the outside. neoprene footies / foot covers are often used to put more padding in parts of your foot where it might be needed and can work wonders. taking out the insole or replacing the insole with a different one can change the fit a lot. orthopedic insoles work also, if your feet / legs need for example more arch support. we also offer the myfit arch support that can be put in underneath or instead of an innersole to prevent your fweet from falling to the inside. thin socks can also help to create a little more room inside your skates... we really hope that one or multiple of these techniques help you out, so you can enjoy your swell skates!

Can I put my boots in a conventional kitchen oven? Or does it have to be smaller oven to do the heat molding? Also, if I’m experiencing signifant pressure on these areas, how thick should I fold relief shims? THANKS, The engineering, attention to detail on every material part, build of this skate is impressive, I want my damn boots to FEEL good!

@PowerslideInlineskates 4 жыл бұрын
hi! thanks for your feedback and sorry to read about your fitting problems. yes, heat molding in a conventional oven will do just fine, just make sure the boots do not touch the sides of the oven. thickness can be applied in multiple tries to test and find out how much your feet actually need. we would recommend starting with something minimal like 2-3mm and check if it already helped. pressure points can also come up for several factors: have you tried a different frame placement? rockering the frames to the outside if you tend to fall to the outside and vice versa can help a lot! also experimenting with differnet insoles/foot supports/arch supports/no insoles at all / only heel 2/3rds insoles can do the trick for some.

no, the next skates can not be heat molded. the next do come with myfit liners, which are heat moldable. have a look at our latest tutorial about heat molding your skate liners: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5W3o4yZjc51gKs

Can I heat the skate using the hair dryer?
@PowerslideInlineskates
@PowerslideInlineskates 4 жыл бұрын
heat molding with a hair dryer is possible, but can damage the material easily if not done 100% correctly. we recommend the method shown above.

Hello, is it possible through heat molding to mold a boot that is a tad too large?
@PowerslideInlineskates
@PowerslideInlineskates 4 жыл бұрын
usually it is the opposite. but if you heat mold your skates and tight them upper really tight and put pressure from the outside on the areas that are too big / too wide for your foot, it should work fine, too!

Even when in "skating position" my heel still has a little bit of give, can lift it by half a centimeter or so, it doesn't get locked, so it's impossible to be confident, the rest of the skate is pretty fine now (after a bit of breaking in) How would I go about heatmolding the boot to make it tighter on the heel area? Thanks
@PowerslideInlineskates
@PowerslideInlineskates 5 жыл бұрын
Hi, making a heel counter of a plastic shell tighter is almost impossible. I would recommend to use one of the MYFIT footies with extra heel lock (art. no. 908287 if you want to check with your favorite shop). The footies are made of 2mm thick neoprene material made in Japan and include some padding for heel lock. The footies will fill the space in your boots and prevent your foot from blisters. I hope this information is helpful for you.

@@PowerslideInlineskates thanks for the reply. Bought a pair for my girlfriend a couple months back, had to tear them with scissors almost completely for them to fit. The sizes are really skewed. They did their job, though.

Hi there, I´m really worried about my new Swell... I have a lot of pain in the inside ankle bone because of the hard plastic. Will the hard plastic really mold with tjis process or is it just for the soft boot? I tried the heating process with a hair dryer but I don´t see difference.... Somebody could help me on this? I´m really desapointed for now with these rollers... Thanks.
