A good warm-up routine is to do a handful of tricks over something(like another board.) That way it forces you to actually pop your tricks which will warm your legs up a lot faster.

This was THE best heelflip tutorial. Truly helped me understand my issue but more importantly the “pinkie toe corner pocket” was such a strong cue for my brain and I now have them on lock.
@localjoe3 жыл бұрын
Yeah it really is the mental cue that helps it click. Glad it helped you!
@FATFORKS4 ай бұрын
This hack rules. The simplicity really helps my brain not get overwhelmed, and it let's the board flip right beneath my feet instead of behind me which used to happen.

I had em when I was a teen and then lost them after I learned kickflips. Gonna give this a try. I used to do them with my front foot Ollie style with no toe hang. Great video as always!

@@localjoe I finally got around to it and was total pikachu face when the first try popped and flipped level. Stomped it good. Now time to do it rolling. You seriously unlocked the trick for me! I haven’t landed a heel in over a decade. WOW

@@localjoe Well, the no knee tip helped a ton in my head. We were on a road trip to pick up a dresser from my parents yesterday when I was listening. It made sense and I thought to give it a go when we got settled. It got late because we stopped at my homies shop in Houston so I tried it today. I always kicked with my knee wearing big ole circa cup soles back in the day so it worked out with enough pop. I’ve been skating vulcs since I picked it back up in August and heelflips seemed so alien to me. Thank you so much!
@localjoe3 жыл бұрын
@@GC-ji3ye haha vulcs really make you do heelflips proper. Cupsoles let you get away with a lot. They practically do the heelflip for you lol

Were you skating extra during this time frame? You look way comfortable on your board in this vid!!! Neen william’s Braille trick tip helped me a lot, I definitely have the problem you mentioned where I end up lined up with the nose of the board, but in front of it so like my body keeps going and my board stops. I feel like I’ve been RIGHT THERE for about 3 months now, my first official concrete land will be in the books soon I hope!

When I put my back foot in that position the board wants to rotate like a varial flip. I’m gonna try the pinky toe tip. Thanks!
@localjoe3 жыл бұрын
Pinky toe will help and make sure your weight is on your heels. If you are leaning too much on your front foot toes the board has a tendency to do a a varial motion. Weight on your heel edge and pinky toe in the corner pocket and you should be golden.

Mate you have awesome content! Some of the best skate tutorials on KZbin, honestly. I have been trying the heelflip lately, but I am very inconsistent. I have a good flick, but I keep landing in front of the board. Any advice?
@localjoe3 жыл бұрын
So I’m goofy so what I imagine is jumping up off my back foot and landing more on my back foot as well. Kinda like a one footed jump with your back foot. Forces you to not put too much weight on your front foot. I’d just try playing with that. Dm me on Instagram if you have more questions and let me know how it works!

@localjoe3 жыл бұрын
Do you mean pushed forward like towards your toes?
@isellmethdotcom3 жыл бұрын
@@localjoe yeah like i slip out
@localjoe3 жыл бұрын
@@isellmethdotcom If you send me a video of it happening that would help me understand the problem better. My Ig is @thelocaljoe but regardless a big key to landing tricks comes down to your balance. If you are slipping out it means you aren't balanced when you are doing your pop. If you can stay balanced as you pop you will come down balanced as well. I'd start with focusing on your balance while you pop and the rest should take care of itself. If that doesn't help let me know.

I notice watching videos of heelflips there seems to eather be weight on that front foot toeside and that helps roll the foot out and off the nose. But your saying weight on the heels. I cant seem to get that part right. A ollie would have weight on the toes.Anyone

Weight over heels but the pressure on your front foot is on the toe or ball of your foot
