I wish more people knew this. I am one of those people who tends to slip into the abyss of negativity, and people lecturing me to be more positive really doesn't help. It only makes it worse. I also struggle with gratitude... on both sides, showing it to others and receiving it. I always feel like i don't deserve it and i start acting all weird. I am getting a bit better at showing it as i am reflecting more on my past lately, and there are a lot of people who have helped me a ton to keep my sanity, knowing or unknowingly by just being there and being themselves. Been writing a lot of thank you emails for things that happened 20-25 years ago. But there is one person who i really need to thank, but unfortunately i can't find him. The person who i hardly knew but who pretty much saved my life when i was 21-22.

#SpiritDragoness (I like your handle! It sounds both mysterious & strong!) - I've known a few people who seem to have a perpetually negative outlook on life, so I've witnessed how hard it can be to pull out of. I think it's inspiring that you are trying really hard to show more gratitude by writing thank you notes, especially for things that might be forgotten by those who did the kind act a long time ago. :) I've been listening to Dr. Paul on this channel for about 6 months now, & have noticed my attitude improve - slow as it may be. My husband has noticed it, too. Dr. Paul has said happiness is a choice, a skill, & an emotion. I'd like to add that it's contagious! :) So is gratitude. And he spreads both very effectively! I love watching & sharing his videos... hope they help you like they have me.

I love that you are cultivating an attitude of gratitude and expressing it to others. You begin to look for the positive, and that helps both you and others. Go ahead and write the letter to the person you can't find, for the act of expression. With gratitude developed, it will be second nature to begin creating the life you want, SpiritDragoness.

Great stuff! One thing I find is if I seek out attributes in others that I'd like to see in my family and reflect on them out loud it helps. I always do it with true appreciation and a smile. Never in a comparative, angry way. It works with fictional characters too. I just had to complement my guy the other day for his Mr. Darcy moment.

Thank you for this. My best friend is my soul sister, she is SO supportive of me. She’s always my number one cheerleader who will encourage me to pursue my dreams, but she struggles a lot in her own life. Sometimes I find it really hard being around her when she’s in her low moods because the complaining and the worry over everything is a lot to swallow and no matter how much I reassure her and show my support, it’s one thing after another. I feel so guilty saying that but I want her to be happy.

I have this strange issue, where I won't share or tell my friends about things I've learned or read about. I don't do that all the time, but some subjects I keep close to my chest, such as this. In some ways, I think I want to be appear stronger than I am, as I work my way to becoming strong for real, and have them think I'm some sort of super hero who just figures things out. Not really sure, but it's a pattern I noticed within myself.

Thanks. 💕 I feel happier already, knowing that this negative person is not my responsibility. I'm responsible for the me in my skin. So I need to focus on my own positivity and not waste my energy on trying to help negative people. Yes I will make a habit of leaving space for them, moving away when I feel myself being dragged down, and pointing out positive things that I appreciate about the person. 🙂

Lancaster Southway, we all have feelings and you are never wrong with how you feel. Feelings tell us sometimes what is up and that we need to deal with it. @LiveOnPurposeTV5 жыл бұрын
Ankita Gupta, ask yourself if the talk is really disrespectful or it is she really needing more explanation or a way to express her feelings. That could help. If her behavior is disrespectful and you have a family rule about respect, then she would be violating the rule and there would be consequences. Keep it simple and without emotion. Good luck.

When my children were young they were not appreciative of anything. I let them watch World Vision so they can see the lives of poor people and see how blessed they were in their lives. Now I’m so grateful that they are very appreciative of their lives. They support poor people, they have good relationships with their families and friends. I’m so blessed to have them in my life. I’m hoping that your mom’s perspective will change too.

Awesome video. I can apply these with everyone except my sister group. I just feel i have no right to share anything with substance to them. They gang up on me and tells me im negative... what? Thanks to youtube i learned the sister group dynamic that the youngest one, me, is their scapegoat. Since all of them are stressing with covid and my brother and step father died last month from covid, they are looking for a scapegoat. So i left or quit our group text to save my sanity.
