The prom dress I ordered came in the mail last minute and it's like 6 inches too long (with heels on) my sewing is a bit rusty and I had no idea how to hem the skirt without making the end uneven THANK YOU FOR THIS ✨

I was having so much trouble doing a stay stitch then ironing. I ended up running the hem line through my serger, then ironing and using pins to still hold down the serged hem , then was able to do a zigzag stitch and finally got it to lay down flat without bunching and gave me a really nice closed hem on the inside! I was going crazy on these skirts! Your tutorial helped so much and I was able to put a spin on it to make it work for me! Thanks so much!!

I am a beginner sewist-this tip is great!!!! So much easier than others I’ve seen. I do have a question-why not sew a 5/8 line of stitching (if that’s the hem called for) and then fold along the line of stitching, and then fold under? Is it easier to see if you fold in an added 1/8 inch with the line of stitching 1/8 below the fold? Always considering I’m consistently able to add that 1/8 inch by eyeball 😜. I used this method the first time I sewed a very full hem, but now I don’t remember if I eyeballed the extra 1/8 or just folded on the 1/2 inch sewn line. Thanks for any advice 😁

Hi. Just found you. New sub :). I need help with 2 things I’d like to make for the grandkids. One is an elastic waist gathered skirt and shorts for 12-18 mos. the issue is the fabric I like is a knit and a bit stretchy. I’m thinking zig zag all over, but I’m a little nervous about the pocket for the elastic in the waist. Someone suggested I sew the elastic to the fabric, pulling as I go. That seems too hard lol. The other project is a rolled up burrito style pillowcase for a standard pillow. I think they’re cute and the grandkids will love them. There are several videos on this but now that I found you I’m hoping you will do a video on both projects :).

If you were to see a basting line at about an eighth of an inch from the edge as well, you can pull up the basting stitch just enough to ease in the fullness. It makes it much easier to fold it up and press.

I have searched the internet to no avail so I thought I'd ask you. Do you know why I sometimes get an extra loop of thread around my bobbin? When I try to pull the fabric away there are four strands, the extra coming from the spool.
@AragornElessar5 жыл бұрын
i think that might be the upper thread ready to go around the lower thread (and then up again as it does when you're sewing). if you turn the needle-controlling wheel so the needle is all the way up again the loop should disappear as it's pulled straight or if it's stuck you can cut it off and pull the looped bit up and out of the way.
@user-fc3sx2cw5x6 жыл бұрын
Hi! My question is a bit off topic to this particular video but I hope you can help me: I want to replace my needle on my sewing machine but it is not coming out even though I fully unscrewed the needle bar clamp. Any help?
