Thanks so much for this clear tutorial! I got a knit dress from the thrift store that is wayyy too long and I had no idea about hemming knit fabric and using the zigzag stitch!

I would have loved to see the finished hem Anastasia.

I do not understand. I show the dress hem at the end inside and out and I even try it on. What is it you are wanting to see?

I swear you always upload the exact tutorial I need! I have an antique machine so I only have a straight stitch option, would I be better off hemming by hand?
@SewAnastasia3 жыл бұрын
Yes I think you would

How do you keep it from stretching out the knit fabric??
@SewAnastasia Жыл бұрын
You can lengthen your stitch and lessen the pressure on the foot.

Thank you for this video. Can I use a serger to hem a knit fabric?

You sure can!

What if the bottom is uneven? What are your zig zag settings? like 5 and 5? I have a stretch zig-zag stitch also. Thread is poly core yeah? I love you!
@SewAnastasia2 жыл бұрын
If the bottom is upeven you can follow that natural hem or even it out. I always play with my settings on a test scrap first or watch the first few stitches to see if you need to adjust any further. I use all purpose thread.

Is there a formula you use to figure out how much longer to make the back of a dress for those lucky enough to have a booty?
@SewAnastasia3 жыл бұрын
I would measure from the floor up & then chalk the hem to look even all the way around.
