For darker tones, yes you may use black tea. Heated aloe vera will do but aloe vera gel doesn't go well with coloring

Does brown henna/ red henna actually work on black hair?

Henna is naturally red always. So yes the henna will give black hair a slight reddish tint and with repeated application you'll see more of it over time. A brown mix and henna and indigo might not stand out as much as henna and herbs don't bleach nor lighten the hair. Both ways of use will color greys.

I think you mentioned in one of your videos that the ideal time for colour release is 4 hours, and leaving henna mixture overnight diminishes the colour. I started following the 4 hour rule, but here you are saying leave it overnight. I am confused.

this video was from a client, who is in the video and this was her experience. We recommend 4 hours max, but she said overnight worked fine for her. It's better not to leave it out overnight as professionally and as a now salon owner, it just doesn't seem good to risk the chance of it attracting bacteria as liquid sits out. @@Meet_Surya When using pure henna powder (body art quality), and herbs for hair, you can use stainless steel bowls. Traditionally, they have used iron bowls, as it has shown to bring our more dye release. We typically use a spatula to mix it. We don’t usually use plastic bowls because they are porous, and the herbs will stain the bowl. The commercial boxes of henna, and henna “colors” that contain other ingredients, herbs, additives, metallic salts, etc..would more so cause reactions with metal bowls, then 100% pure herbs would.

If you're dealing with chemicals then you need to have a full chemical treatment on your hair BUT If you're trying to dye your hair naturally, then you've got to MAINTAIN THAT PROCESS FROM ROOT TO TIP of your coloring process. There’s no such thing as ‘black henna’. There’s either henna-indigo one step application or you’re not using natural henna, it’s got additives in it. Henna has been used on relaxed hair, before but imo it had a much stiffer appearance.

Henna hair dye lasts 4-6 weeks but depends on hair growth. People choose henna hair dye as they do not want to use chemicals so this is a true natural alternative.
