Now that I’ve watched several of your videos, then you automatically pop up in my feed. One thing I like about your deal, is your videos are short, precise & on point. Some you tubers just like to hear themselves talk and actually tell you very little useful substance. Keep up the great work.

I love this system, as i am new to horse camping. My Q is how much rope do they have? I would prefer to feed hay on the ground and I want him to get water, but not to get his legs caught. So how long is correct? Thanks/
@HappieronaHorse
@HappieronaHorse Жыл бұрын
It was trial and error at first, supervising and seeing how he did. I adjusted it so that there wasn’t tension on his halter when he ate but there wasn’t a lot of hanging slack while eating either. You have to take into account the high line itself has give also. Some people like to tie them short at night for safety. All depends on your horse.

What do you think of ground tie grazing set ups? So rather than a pulley above it’s like a buried weight that the horse is tied to.

In Peru on our Inca Sacred Ride trip last fall, the men took our steads and ground tied them to clumps of sturdy tall type of grass used to weave. It was brilliant. They guys slept right there with the ponies overnight. There we few problems. Wild Women Expeditions with Kyd Campbell. One of my best trips! Hooked on travel, add a horse and I’m a goner! ¡Adios!

I just came across your videos, and I love Fame! I'd love seeing how to get a horse used to high lining. Was there anything you had to do to get Fame used to high lining or any prep you had to do? Was he immediately comfortable eating while on the high line? Did you ever have any trouble with him mouthing at the ropes? I'd love a response or video about this. Just subscribed!
@HappieronaHorse

Thanks for subscribing! So glad you enjoyed the video. I will admit I got lucky with him, we tried it on a lark, unprepared and it worked, he ate and everything...but he's pretty quiet when tied, not mouthy and not prone to getting himself in trouble. But my friend's horse is a bit more rambunctious and we have been talking about teaching her horse. Our plan was to start at home with some trees/poles and hang out with some lunch for a few hours to see how he does. The big thing I think will be keeping the line high so he can't get a leg over it. I will see if she's ok with me filming it...thanks for the suggestion!

Have you ever had a horse chew on your highline and do you have any tips for this? I'm curious because my horse is very mouthy when tied up.
@HappieronaHorse
@HappieronaHorse 3 жыл бұрын
I'd like to see if my friend would be open to me filming her horse when we train him for high line since he is more mouthy. High lines definitely aren't for every horse (for a variety of reasons). We definitely plan to practice at home first to get him used to it and see what issues come up.

Sorry if that’s a silly question but what about the horse lying down for sleeping? I know they only do that a couple hours a day/night but if you tie them overnight is this not an issue ?
@HappieronaHorse
@HappieronaHorse 3 жыл бұрын
Not silly! My understanding is that some horses lay down comfortably on a high line. Fame doesn’t seem to...Can’t be sure as I’m asleep myself lol. It hasn’t been a problem for us so far.

They can lay down ok, but make sure lead to Highline is not to long. Rope burns can be bad if they find a way to get tangled.

Can anyone please recommend any other channels like Stephanie's? I really love this channel but it hasn't got very many videos just yet, so soon I will have seen them all. I love this type of horsey content. And I'm not asking for recommendations with any of these specifics I'm about to go on about. Just any good horsey channel recommendations please! But I especially love watching stuff like this of down to earth horsey people, especially strong women out there living the dream, trucking and riding and caring for their own horse and sharing it all with us. I love watching ALL of it, every aspect of horse ownership. My dream is to do what Stephanie does basically. Be a horse owner again one day. But would have to use stable facilities like her and truck to riding destinations and would have to do alot of the work all on my own. Being the only horse person in my family. So seeing just every day people not necessarily people with multi million dollar stables and horses and high level competing and all that, (which is alot of what I get when just searching horsey content on here) honestly standards unattainable for the average horse loving girl who sees what Stephanie is doing as her more realistic dream for the future, so love seeing every day people who own like one horse and are actually out there living and doing my dream, showing how it is doable, strong women showing all aspects to non billionaire horse ownership and good kind riding in the modern world of right now, my true dream of horse ownership. Please any recommendations of inspirational chanels like this for me to watch while I work towards this dream life goal.
