Looking forward to part 2. This kind of info is very important to independent contractors considering hiring help. Most do not want to do it the legal way and could face serious issues in the future if they pay their help under the table. The IRS makes it very clear the difference between an employee vs sub contractor. If you can not prove your sub contractor is legit, the IRS will consider them an employee and you will have to file and pay the added taxes for them. Keep in mind the added insurance coverage you will need also. If your so-called sub contractor gets hurt or causes damage to the property, you as the contracted business owner will be liable. Stan, you have the some of the best videos, I'm surprised you do not have a million subscribers.

Billy Goat Thanks! The second part covers the difference between an employee and a legal subcontractor. The IRS audited the crap out of me- so I learned first hand the consequences.

Finding good, reliable, hardworking guys is hard to find. This we know. I've had guys I thought were great, didn't last till lunchtime first day, then had kids I thought wouldn't last till lunch time first day, ended up being foreman 5yrs later. One thing I learned, never judge a book by it's cover and Talk is talk.

Amazing video! One of the most helpful videos I've came across on KZbin very clear and to the point. I'm excited about part two and more vids like this in the future I plan to hire someone legitimately and I know it's gonna be a little different in my state but this video helped me get a close figure to what it would cost. I've been pricing all my lawns at a price to where I can pay employees a decent wage to do the work and still make a decent profit I thought it would cost alot more to do everything legit. Thanks again!!

Excellent stuff. Stan if I could suggest one thing. I love the music but when it's a conversation between two people, it's very distracting, well to me, cause I start enjoying the tunes and I tune out. Like the other day when you were talking on the phone to the lady. Just a thought.

Trooperandcooper Ale Thank you! I have heard mixed reviews on the music-ie to loud etc. I have tried to turn it down so its more subtle.

I have a question. Could you hire people that give expert advise to other businesses? For tax reasons, you must categorize your worker as an independent contractor, common-law employee, statutory employee or statutory nonemployee. Misclassification can result in fines equal to one-and-a-half percent of the questionable wages, plus the withholding taxes. Criminal charges can apply as well. Because what Im looking at. Is putting a group of people who come up with stratagies for other businesses together and make them work for me by giving other businesses help and professional information. But according to tax categorization it says those kinds of people work by them selves. They are the independent contractors. Could i still hire them?

The overtime/salary comment is not true. Salaried employees are entitled to overtime pay as long as they are not in an exempt or AEP position.

My question is do I file the W-4 for my employee with the IRS after I hire them?
@littlesun61127 жыл бұрын
Chandler Beaudette Yes you dumb ass. Unless you plan on ripping off your employees by not paying them on time or correctly kinda how he over prices his shitty services.

what do you think of home advisor is it worth the money

***** Personally- I like Home advisor but some people hate them.
@Dirtmonkey9 жыл бұрын
Curcios LawnCare I have had good luck with Home advisor-but I have been with them for 10 plus years and grandfathered in. Maybe that makes a difference. I also aggressively pursue refunds on what I consider bad leads. Many people fail to understand that important difference.
@johnwillis79657 жыл бұрын
Stanly: youve actually gotten refunds on bad leads ,, ive been talking to lots of people and they say the money is better spent in direct advertising ?
@michaelnesbitt61157 жыл бұрын
You can set a limit to what you want to spend on leads , I turn off my leads sometimes if I get to busy and then you can turn it on when you need it .
