Being an Experienced Golfer at 65 - I used to have issues chunking wedge shots. I began placing more weight on my front foot - ball in the center - and opening the blade face a little (for more bounce) which improved everything. On "Shorter Touch Wedge Shots" I will place 75% of my weight on my front foot and just leave it there. No weight shift or much rotation at all. I let my lead shoulder come back proportionate to the shot needed and let gravity return the wedge into the ball. My swing effort is limited to matching the height of the backswing on my forward swing to land the ball on my targeted landing area. Your videos have improved my game tremendously. In fact, I had my All Time Low Score last week. A 73 (35/38) which is one under "Senior Par 74" at my home course. [Scoring: 1 Eagle, 3 Birdies, 10 Pars & 4 Bogies (10 GIR, 8 One Putts, 4 Up & Downs to Save Par with No Doubles & No 3 Putts). As you can tell, I am rather proud of that round. I credit your videos and reading, studying & applying the teachings in your book THE BAD LIE for helping me achieve that score. Thanks Coach Todd! All the Best, Jack in Tampa

Today i left myself at least 5 shots with my wedges. I was driving it beautiful, leaving myself 60-80 yards to the green, but couldn’t approach correctly. Thanks for this video. I will go to the range and only practice wedges, PW, AW, 56 and 60

Funny story, played a round yesterday. Shot really well, except for my wedges. Kept blading shots not getting under the ball. I went to talk to a golf shop concierge about extending my wedge shafts. He looked at em, looked at me. And said there’s nothing wrong with these lengths, go learn how to hit your wedges. If you can’t figure it out, here’s my card. I was very pleased with his honesty. And here I am learning how to hit my wedges. How can you not love this game

Consistently solid, thorough videos that offer clear instructions and purposeful content. Still a relatively new golfer and have been practicing a lot over the off-season, and your videos have been invaluable. I particularly like how you break down the swing components in a way that is easy to understand and follow for someone of my skill level. Thank you so much for all your help, Todd. I watch all of your videos and will continue to do so.

100% agree with how you explained the club bottoming out behind the ball, if trying to swing too flat, and around(inside/out). Also, playing the ball too forward almost encourages an over the top, steep, outside/in swing. I was a block/hook type player for awhile. I played the ball a little too far back, and was swinging a little too “flat”. I’ve recently corrected that, through my own trial n error, and experimentation. I have to “feel” like I’m swinging over the top to get myself on the “correct” plane. Feel and real are totally different things for everybody. That’s why I strongly encourage people to play around with extremes, whether it be grip, path, or ball position. And remember, your contact, and ball flight will tell you all that you need to know. Period. I understand the golf swing more than I ever have in my life, and can now correct things in my own swing better than ever, even during a round. Great content, as always.

I've used the "one leg" drill for years. It works great but I have a very difficult time repeating the results when I go back to my regular stance. If I shift weight at all my low point becomes very inconsistent.... Any more advice for how to help get those same results from a normal stance? I'm sure I just sway more.....

Thank you. The weight shift is an amazing tip. You should really sell those sliders. That’s my last swing thought before I pull the trigger. I hear that sound. My wedges are finally becoming my scoring clubs.

I was always taught the ball should be right in the middle of your setup or slightly behind or back in your stance. What you're saying sounds a little contradicting to what I have always been taught. Can you elaborate on why you would want the ball slightly forward in your stance please? Thank you.

Great video. I sometimes feel that the most important fundamental of a golf swing is weight distribution. If you get it right, not much else can go wrong. Too many instruction videos talk about elbow this-way and knee that-way, all those ideas are good but they are for more advanced players; none of those things matter if the weight distribution is wrong.

Liked your video on wedge play as this is my weakest point of my game along with putting. I am a 17 handicap player. A couple of problems that I am experiencing with wedge play are chunking the ball, pulling it left when I make decent contact and shanking the ball. I also do not get the distance that I feel I should be getting out of these clubs. Any suggestions????

I find that I have to position my ball inside of my trailing foot for wedge shots. I strike them much better (and higher). If my ball is forward of my sternum, I tend to top the ball or blade it. Is that indicative of some other flaw in my technique? I have pretty good success with my wedges.
