Todd: Love this video. It's Allan Patrick from New Brunswick Canada again. Had to tell you I went to the indoor range today and went through the bag and ended up hitting about 50 drivers and not one fade! Your driver setup works so well! I have NEVER hit the driver well on an indoor mat. I am using impact tape as well, and find the impact a little closer to the heel. I am so excited that I now have a simple, repeatable setup and swing. I have always had to spend an hour at the range before golf, just to find what kind of swing wold be my companion for the day. So many bandaids and so many swing thoughts. Now I have a setup that is simpler and I just use your VLS, keep my eyes on the ball and think weight transfer. So much simpler. Thank you so much.

@@USGOLFTVshowAllan Patrick - 67 year old retired surgeon New Brunswick Canada I find in the setup I start with thew weight on the inside of both feet and this keeps me nimble, and naturally leads to the weight shift. I LOVE your set of three easy practice swings getting loose and feeling weight shift. A MUCH better preshot routine. When I don't shift the weight properly I tend to hit behind the ball, so this is a nice check point for me. Such a simple reliable swing.

Biggest compliment I can give you Todd is that you are the only channel I watch for actual tips now. I have spent a lifetime watching various channels taking on board different peoples ideas. End result, lots of confusion and frustration. As a 53 year old playing off 17.5, I just want to to enjoy the next few years playing to my max! I love the VLGS, that has been a game changer for me, your chipping vlogs were always the simplest, most effective on KZbin anyway, now I am dialling in to your methods on putting, pitching, bunker as well. Finally feeling confident again. Keep up great work Todd and Nick.

Hi Todd, my name is Rod Spiers 75 years young from Windsor, England, UK. Really enjoy your videos, especially the way you present them. I've been playing golf off and on for 40 years but have only played regularly for the past 12 months. I play at a golf club called Hartley Wintney and it is where Justin Rose first started playing. I regularly shoot just over a 100 off a handicap of 26. My aim by this time next year is to try and shoot 95 regularly and with your videos I hope that becomes a reality. Thanks for great tuition!

Hey Todd 61 year old, high handicapper from just outside Niagara Falls Canada. I don’t have a lot of luck with high lofted clubs. My go to club in this situation is a 49 degrees approach/gap wedge. However my issue is I either chunk it or worse, skull it across the green. I think finding the right tempo and using the bounce correctly is the root of my problems. Cheers for all you do. Your content is always on point.

Hi Todd, love the instruction you share with us. Here's an ongoing problem that "flares" up on me on occaison with my wedge shots in particular. This occurs more often with mid-distance shots somewhere between a chip (no wrist cock) and a full pitch (wrist cock). The resultant shot is a bad push to the right almost to the point of a shank. What's funny is that I can go week's on end without it occuring and then it mysteriously appears again. I have tried to ensure good posture and ball position, hands slightly forward and the ball slightly back of center with an emphasis of weight forward 60-70%, club face square at takeaway, and turning through the ball vs. swinging at the ball. What I am most interested in learning is what is the cause of this so I can correct it in my mind. Thanks for your consideration on this issue. PS - Sometime later we can talk about the Driver, I've divorced more of them than Elizabeth Taylor!!! Best regards and keep up the great coaching and instruction. PR

Excellent explanation and demonstration Todd on hitting midrange wedge shots! From time to time, I have difficulty with this range shot because of improper execution. I don't take the club back far enough and don't accelerate through impact. Another possibility is a disconnect with the forearms as you demonstrated so well in your video. Good Job Todd! I love your coaching and I'm learning a lot . My question is ; On short pitches and chips a golf pro said look just in front of the ball and not directly at it. I tried it and found it worked , is it because you continue your swing and the ball just happens to be on the same line or something else is occurring .I'm a kiwi by the way

Todd: I am a 78 year old from Sioux Falls, SD. Many years ago I used to see a young golf teaching pro at Willow Run giving lessons. I never got a lesson myself, but certainly could have used your help. Now after 10 years of not playing because of back pain, I am getting back into golf because of the VLS-no back pain. Anyway, I could use your help. I am hitting my driver 185 - 200, but quite straight. However, when hitting irons, long or short, I am pulling them dead left. Sometimes 45 degrees left of my target line.. I have watched your videos and have tried to implement your suggested set up, but I am still hitting my irons dead left. Obviously I am doing something wrong. What do you think? Is there any hope for an old codger like me?

Hey Todd, I’m from Washington State, I’m 68 years old. My handicap is 13 and my driver swing speed is between 95 and 100 miles an hour. My biggest swing fault for decades now has been getting stuck inside. With my driver, I average about 9° inside out swing path in a 3 to 4° open face. Sometimes I’ll get to as much is 13° inside out. I’m confident that I do not take the club back too far inside but I do loop it inside from the top. I would love to see some more programming to help those of us who draw or hook the ball due to being stuck inside. Also, if you could indicate what sort of path to face degree ratio, you think I should be trying to achieve. Thank you.
@USGOLFTVshow
@USGOLFTVshow Жыл бұрын
Great question. We like to see 2-3 degrees in to out with the driver. I would do two things. Move your aim slightly open at address and grip the club firmly with the last 3 fingers of your lead hand. These two things will negate some of your path issues and keep the face open 👊

When I hit my 54 wedge, if I hit the green it run out too far. If I’m short of green often the ball will rollback because of raised greens. How do you get ball to stick
@USGOLFTVshow
@USGOLFTVshow Жыл бұрын
Spin is a result of clean contact, course conditions, clean grooves on the club, using a soft golf ball and speed. Focus on keeping the clubs clean to start.

Hi, I am 64, 25 handicap, although usually play closer to 30. With this shot, I would hit 75% fat, 20% thin (after good practice swings), and less than 10% chance of hitting green. I cannot control height of clubhead at bottom of arc. From that distance, I will attempt bump-and-run (am poor at that also) or even putter. Any ideas of how to make height at bottom of arc more consistent? Thanks.

I live in FL close to Tampa. I now know why I leave this shot short of my target. Club selection. When I do choose the right club, why do I yank this shot left out of nowhere, turn a birdie putt to boogie, or worse?
@USGOLFTVshow

Good question, first place to start is to look at your weight shift. Make sure your weight is on your lead foot on the finish position.

I am 62 years old and I reside in Texas. I either skull the ball or hit the ground behind the ball. I can't figure out how to get the left side of my body out of the way during the swing. My arms are locked in place so I end up using my wrists to manipulate the club. Enjoy your videos!

I don’t use any kind of wedge I use my 9 iron from 100 yards into the green . I tend to shank the shot more times than I want . I lose about 8 to 10 strokes per round and my handicap is 19.4 . I have broken 80 once this year when everything was working well . I am 77 years old and in good physical shape. I just watched your video on the shank I will try and emulate your swing technique.

I live in Costa Rica. I have been here 4 years and my HDCP has gone form 15 to 30. I am 80 years old and still drive the ball 225 and hit PW 120, 7 Iron 150. I have developed a shank on irons (all) I think your lesson on 50 yard shots flipping wrist is causing me to shank it. I KNOW I CAN STILL PLAY TO 15-20 HDCP. Thanks.

I'm puzzled by Don's "flipping wrist" comment. I don't see you advocating that!? Flipping the wrist is generally a swing killer.

worth noting that you have to have a nice lie (certainly not a tight one) to hit it with sand wedge with high bounce
