Hi I’m Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This KZbin channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes “gimmicky” golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.
If you enjoy the channel make sure you hit subscribe and also tap the notification bell so that you are always notified when I release a new video.

Thanks Rick for the reminder mate. I'm newly back playing after a few years off. I thought I was holding my grips correctly from what I remembered, but your tips flooded back a heap of memories. I went straight to the driving range after watching this clip, put it into practice and what do you know I was hitting all my clubs SO!!! much better straight away. Very excited to get out on the course now. Thanks again mate, love watching your videos. Keep up the great work. Cheers Travis Melbourne Australia.

Excellent reminder. Been playing for over 40 years. Whenever I start pushing or pulling the ball, my grip, relative to the club face is always the first thing I check. It's amazing how complacent we become when it comes to the grip. Checking the face by raising the club in front of you (I actually lift the face above eye level) is a great tip. A tip for grip pressure, is to imagine it's a tube of toothpaste. Squeeze to just short of the point where the toothpaste starts to come out. Great simple and concise video on grip!

I have a habit of my grip gradually moving weaker and getting out of the fingers and eventually more in the palm of my left hand. Quit playing for a few years...awful divorce...and started playing again a few months ago. Weak ballooning shots to the right. Finally started piecing my swing back together. My legs had become inactive like tree trunks and the grip again. Looked specifically for your videos...you're easy to understand and have a chipper way about you that is good to see in these times. Gone from "I know I'm going to fat this iron or push this drive" every time over the ball to striping it. Took 2 hrs to get comfortable with this grip on the range. My distance and accuracy are coming back along with my confidence. Swing speed is back up with so much less tension in my swing. 114 to 117 driver clubhead speed. Had 170 to 174 in on 3 different holes this past weekend...hit 7 iron for all three and all three were stuck within 15 feet of the pin. Not playing a strong lofted set...I play stock loft spec MP69's. Love Mizuno irons. Game is coming back and I'll be gaming a set of MP20's soon. Thanks for all your help and thank you for being a positive influence.

Just. took a lesson today. Been a golfer for over 45 years but have been struggling with lots of pulls and fat shots - especially with irons. Essentially, this is what my lesson was about. My grip was too strong. After neutralizing the grip I had to learn to turn both my hips AND shoulders on the downswing. Ball started flying straight with a higher trajectory. Obviously will need practice but the game was getting frustrating and hopefully I'm now on the right path.

Hello Rick, Love your videos. One thing about both of your 'How to hold the club' and other grip videos is you didn't say or show where the left thumb is placed on the golf club. Also you did not mention or show how the right hand forefinger and thumb are placed on or around the golf club. I feel both of these are vital to the golf grip too as I'm sure you do. Just wanted to point these out. Keep up the great work!!

What changed and improved my swing in the last months is to hold the club tight in my left hand during the WHOLE swing. I play golf for ten years now and i was always struggeling with my hands, because i didnt really now what to do with them and how to controll them. And i always heard that you should swing with relaxed wrists so i faslsely developed a swing that resulted in a loose and moving club in my hands during the hit moment and the finish (i would also say that i threw and spun the club in my hands during the hit moment). The stupid thing is that i always thought this is the right way to close the clubface and prevent a slice so i worked on everything else, but my grip druing the swing, to hit straight balls. In fact my grip during the swing was so varibale that some days i managed to close the clubface and sometimes even hit draws, but most of the time i had a bad striking and/or a slice. Luckily my new coach noticed my losse grip in my swing and finish, especially in my left hand. Having a tight grip during the whole swing helped me to hit the ball much cleaner and its now quite easy to hit draws.

Rick I love all your vids.I’ve really enjoyed most videos. They actually eased most of my frustrations heading to my tee time. It was a beautiful day in Chicago and I went golfing first time all year. When I got in sand trap I forgot what to do. I did what I normally do . I dug in no matter what and swung though ball., I am 50 and played for 30 years. I don’t have time to practice but I enjoy time spent on coarse. Maybe you could make a tip card. You are really good at explanation. Just give 3 of the most important tips of most shots that a 12 index player could use. Sand, chipping, putts, fairway wood,100 yard shot and slice. One card. Fits in my back pocket. Plastic coating. Keeps me at ease before hitting shot. Tag me when you make this! I’d pay hundreds of dollars Thx Rick

Just wanted to say I have watched a bunch of your videos over the last few weeks, and they've helped me out dramatically (at the range at least). I got sick almost 13 years ago, and due to surgeries on my elbow, never thought I'd golf again. Having started back up a couple weeks ago, my shots were all hooking and slicing. 2 weeks later, and plenty of your tips and pointers have helped me hit the ball straighter and further already.
