Thanks Rocco! Really helped me out! The bonus was you showing the accelerator pump. I'm a complete novice when it comes to this stuff but I'm really enjoying learning how to do things like this on YT. Anyway, because you talked about it and showed how that was supposed to work I realized that mine wasn't working at all like yours was. So I took it apart. I think it was either just stuck from non use or it has a vacuum lock on it. It was all clean and no tears in the diaphragm so I put it back together and it appears to be working now. So I'm gonna put it all back together and see if this did the trick or not. My guess is it did. Really appreciate you doing this to help others out!

Thanks for doing this video Rocco, best one on KZbin. My 2007 C wouldn’t run over 40mph until I followed this video; jets were all clogged and corroded, cleaned up nice! This way is so much quicker than taking the carb off the bike. Its really important to note that just because you see fuel spitting out when you cycle the accelerator pump, that does NOT mean its OK. There are 4 extremely small passages around the brass plug in the bottom of the accelerator pump bowl that must ALL be clear for it to run like it should. Nothing short of a physical cleaning will get to this location. If your bike spits and chokes trying to get up to speed, but runs fine when it gets there, I suggest you look there first. A very thin sliver of a soda can may assist in cleaning that area out.

Awesome video, saved me a bunch of money. The only real problem I had was getting those damn hoses back on the back of the box. Broke down and went and bought that tool you use. Definitely helped but still had some trouble with the bigger one. I ended up going to the other side of the bike and finding where that hose was routed. In the middle of the engine it has a heat shield on it and I popped that part of the hose out and pushed it through just enough to make it easier. Once I had the box back on I just snapped the hose with the heat shield back into place and was good to go! Thanks again, she runs like a champ!! Great detailed video. Would you have any idea why my VTX has a slight studder in RPMs around 1800 - 2000 RPMs in 1st and 2nd gear? Like taking off from a stop or in low 2nd gear. It seems to go away after 10-15 minutes on the freeway. But if I start it and ride to the freeway it does it. Annoying and potentially dangerous... I almost hear a click or a pop when it recovers, which makes me think it may be an airflow issue. We just replaced the vacuum hose on the petcock. Thanks.

If you need to choke to be engaged for your motorcycle to Idle, that's indicating you have a clogged idle jet and your choke is compensating for that and that's how it's idling off your choke. without removing the tank etc. can you spray carb cleaner in the butter fly to clean the idle jet?

Test petcock vacuum diaphragm for leak. This will make a very rich running bike. Take a look at this Sportster Video on how to test your Petcock Vacuum operated gas valve. It is like your VTX. That were I would start. Let me know how that works out. A bad vacuum will cause a rich running condition.

I just bought a 2006 vtx1300r today for an amazing deal. Been sitting a few years so of course carb is gummed up. Have the intake off and when twisting the throttle I'm not seeing the fuel spray from the accelerator pump as shown in this video. Would the gummed up carb cause this? Was told bike ran fine before sitting. Will be pulling the carb this weekend anyway but figured I'd ask. Bike has tons of aftermarket parts, pipes, hypercharger pro series, not sure of jetting but will know soon. Have new air filter for the intake on the way. Picking up new plugs, oil and filter tomorrow. Cant wait to ride it.

Yes it will, Test petcock clean tank, clean Carburator. Let us know how this works out. Harley petcock is the same as your Honda VTX kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXfSaoRvaLR9jqs. Start at the tank and fuel and vacuum lines. Test Petcock, Then clean Carburator. New battery and start. Any questions just ask. Thank you for your Sub Jordan.

@@TwoWheelRocco Bike was stored with a full tank of gas so luckily no rust issues, looks very clean inside. I will drain and refill. I dont have a vacuum gauge unfortunatly. Any other way easy to test the petcock? I'm sure it's fine but will replace if it proves faulty. With the carb I plan to remove completely from the bike. If it was already running I'd do as you did and just hang it off the side but want to be thorough with it.

So that gas tank was full of fuel? To me this should be an easy fix. I would hang the carb and clean. Your carb has hose that go to your radiator. Keep it simple... Clean idle and main, New battery and see what you got..Start it... I done many.. VTX are great bikes. Let us know how this works out. You might be surprised. They put bike up with gas turned off. Ran it till it stalled and stored this bike..

@@TwoWheelRocco Any tips or tricks with dealing with the pilot screw? I know it requires a special D shaped tool but some have made there own or were able to twist it out somehow with a regular small screw driver and then grind a slot in the head so a flat head can be used. I'm assuming the carb has been worked on before considering the v&h pipes and hypercharger but if for some reason it's all stock I want to set it to 2 1/2 turns out and will probably shim the needle as well from what I've read online.

Great video! Very helpful! I followed your step by step and cleaned the carb and my '06 Vtx 1300c runs much better thank you! However, it idles high and is slow to return to idle. What should I look for?
@TwoWheelRocco8 жыл бұрын
Start by lower idle knob,bottom of air box counter clockwise. Make sure there is no vacuum leaks. That would be the Vac. hose from the gas petcock to top of the carburetor take a look at that, that would make you idle slow to return.Let me know if that helped. Ride Safe.

Hi, sorry to bother you out of topic, I have Honda VTX 1300c and recently I started to experience issues with downshifting, when I am riding for a while, and need to stop= downshift from 5th to neutral, it only goes to 4th, sometimes 3rd but not down to 1st. Then suddenly after I trying to shift for many times, suddenly it is in neutral. Any thoughts?

If you would run some Seafoam thru your engine a couple times a year, you wouldn't need to clean your carburetor. I've used Seafoam on all my small engines for the past 15 years and I never had to take a carb off to clean them. I also use it for fuel stabilizer in the winter while it is being stored. My engines all start right up in the spring like they've just been running. It keeps those small ports clear of debris, which is mostly why carbs need to be cleaned.

I would test the petcock that would be the first thing I would do, To make sure gas is flowing. Your diaphragm in your accelerator pump is bad. You could take the float bowl off and test it. I'll send you a video of us accelerator pump rebuild. This is a sportster carburetor but the principles are the same take a look at this video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eHbZpXitlNmqhrM. I would test the Petcock first and again this is from Sportster but the same idea I'll send you this video. A very common problem with the Diaphragm's in the petcock fouling and flowing no fuel to the carburetor which would affect everything. What is your bike doing exactly. Here's the video..kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXfSaoRvaLR9jqs
