Watching you going up that hill and losing traction gave me anxiety. I was hauling a dozer up an icy mountain and lost traction. I had to put chains on my front tow hooks and attach them to a couple of trees, unload the dozer and then use it to pull my truck and trailer the rest of the way up the mountain. Your video gave me flashbacks. 😂

Reminded me of when I was caught in a storm in April in Saskatchewan I saw so many trucks flipped over and tows coming in the distance to get them through a blizzard. And then one in the morning around Winnipeg, however, it like looked as though it flew into a giant snow bank so it looked cozied up lol The funny one I saw and yet still bad the Pick up truck I saw passing Moosejaw had dove into a snow bank and had its back wheels sticking out like some apocalyptic shit. I chortled and then said ohhh fuck that def isn't good.

What is your thoughts on your trailer ? Obviously we have seen you do major repairs to it ,but given the conditions you use it in are you happy with it ? Are you up to 4 trucks( F450 , F350 w/6.7 , F350 w/6.0 and F250 OG)now and do 3 of them sit at home while your not driving them ? Finally what happened to the 6.0 ? Did you end up putting a driver in it ,or is just sitting right now ?
@DangerIndustries
@DangerIndustries 3 жыл бұрын
6.0 blew a trans, put a driver in it but he ended up not liking the gig too well and I sold that truck to him to keep. The trailer build quality is crap, the metal is soft, engineering is meh, the axles are the only good thing about it, 3/10 would not recomend.

What's your current rate per Kilometer? I'm $4.00 per mile on the short stuff, $3.25 on the 500 mile stuff and $2.50+ on the 1,000 mile and over. I'm also charging a base rate of $150.00 in addition to mileage. Just ordered a new 2023 Ford F-450 HO. Should be great if I can keep the CP-4 form blowing up. Golng to put the bypass filter after the CP-4 in case it does to catch all the metal.. Gonna run Lucas injector cleaner/lube with each tankful to keep that CP-4 lubricated.

I have my 2011 RAM 3500 SRW that I just put 19.5" Michelins on, OF course 2 weeks after the tire upgrade the trans went out. I'm getting ready to change the gear ration on this RAM. It currently has a 3.73 ratio now. What ratio are you using on the Ford 4500? Afetr the breakdown of truck #1 I decided I needed a backup truck so I purchased a 2017 RAM 3500 DRW with 17" Michelins it. Great truck - has everything that your King Rancher has except it's a RAM. Love the heated seat and steering wheel and the 2 backup cameras, one high and the other on the bumper. My question is did the 19.5's make a difference on wear with the dually? I know the 19.5" increase traction and I normally run them at 75psi. What are you running in the winter at the rear? Part of the reason I can justify the newer RAM is that it still has all the DEF and pollution stuff on it where as the older truck is deleted. In the winter I'd like to do some jobs in CA and I want to be perfectly legal in CA and avoid the big fines. You know a warm vacation. I have to say I really like the 3500 dually. John Schubert 406 Hot Shot Missoula, MT 12F today - a heat wave!

ratios will be different where the ford has a 10 spd, but I would recomend 4.10 for highway
@johnschubert4665
@johnschubert4665 3 жыл бұрын
@@DangerIndustries Yep - There are only 2 choices 4.11 and 4.56 both are available for front and rear. There are other ratios but they don't have a front ring and pinion.
@jnk26
@jnk26 3 жыл бұрын
@@johnschubert4665 a 4.56 for towing would be bad. You you be stuck under 70mph especially with the Aisin or Chrysler 68RFE. There isn't enough overdrive to make the 70mph(not towing) with that tall of ratio. Other part is reliability. That 4.56 is a very small pinion compared to the 11.50 ring gear. It will have less issue getting a load moving but it's service life will be shortened because of the number of revs. The 4.10 is the best option for ram. Also when you make the tires taller it makes the effective torque drop(and fuel mileage) wear is better on 19.5" commercial tires vs the 17" OEM junk. But going from a 31" tall(17"rim) to a 34" tall(19.5"rim) is going to load the transmission differently than designed. All in all the crazy towing numbers are publicly stunts. I own a Volvo tractor that pulls 140k every load(B-train fuel tanker) its got 3.25:1 axles and does just fine. I'm getting getting better mileage than my 3.58:1 mack counterparts(same engine and transmission) my truck is longer and heavier
@johnschubert4665
@johnschubert4665 3 жыл бұрын
@@jnk26 Well you're right about the 70 mph. The RAM 3500 is a SRW and when I haul a 40 ft High-Cube container I usually stay at 65. The fuel milage is really bad anyway but 70 -75 mph it can reach epic lows. At 65 I can get 7.5 to 8.0 mpg and that is OK with me. I do wish there were a gear in between. The new RAM 5500 is available with a 4.44 but of course the axle is completely different. Seems like it would be better.
@jnk26
@jnk26 3 жыл бұрын
@@johnschubert4665 For the 3500 Drw(and HD tow 4.10 SRW 2018-2021) I'm not 100% sure if there is a 4.30 available for the AAM 1125(GM doesn't offer one its their axle) Ford has one in the F450(p/u) and F4-550 Chassis cabs, which is the same front axle as the Ram 4500/5500(Dana S60). But 2017-up is now the Dana M300, not the S110 or S135.

Don't mind boats but that tie down eeeeee...... I Def would have left the tie down portion to the driver if they know how to properly tie down a load.

That bit about driving legal and slower is safer is the "first responder complex" you can't help if you die on the way there. Or slow is smooth smooth is fast (army) or speeding to work might save you 30 secs but that 30+ min traffic stop for 5mph over saves you nothing. Sucks but it's the truth and for all the "you can't win the lottery if you don't play" ppl it's not worth the .1% chance of winning.
