I’m fairly new to coyote hunting but through videos and old blogs I’ve seen how much the sport has grown, makes me wonder where it’ll be in another 20-40 years. Thanks for the video!

@FOXPROINC My apologies if that comment sounded "short". Where I live there are virtually zero coyote hunters. I started by watching videos on KZbin. My first set up was a bluetooth speaker and my smartphone. Everything I learned was by trial and error backed up by Johns videos online. Thank you John.

I got my first fox pro in 2009. An fx3. Then I upgraded to a firestorm in 2012 which I still use today. Shot a lot of coyotes up here in eastern. Ontario with both of them. Haven’t had time lately to get out for a coyote hunt but hopefully soon. Hearin lots of em howlin the last month or so now. Time to get out and let my .222 eat again.

There are coyotes everywhere in Calif. They like rural locations because there's plenty of space. They like urban locations because there's plenty of food. You can't shoot them in urban locations, at least not with firearms. You might have success with a powerful air rifle, if you could get a good hit in exactly the right spot. It's frustrating to see coyotes so emboldened in the city running around like they own the place, and menacing pets and even small children. There is a book called Understanding Coyotes by Michael Huff that gives a lot of very good insight on these dangerous predators.

Great video! Do you typically keep your sound setting on repeat or change to single play for some sounds such as howls? I've been leaving my caller on repeat and try to mute at a good place but I've played a few half howl sounds with that method. Thanks again!
@FOXPROINC Жыл бұрын
We leave that up to personal preference. I personally keep mine on repeat.

Jon, when using breeding sounds, such as sore howls and yodels, is it important to use sounds from the same female coyote or can they be mixed and matched?

How come the coyotes your hunting always come out in the wide open instead of using cover? They won't come out in the open in broad daylight where I hunt in Michigan. I've tried a thousand different times?

Couple questions...... (1) Why don't they call it Foxpro Furtakers anymore? (2) Have you guys ever considered doing a collaboration video with lets say like Geoff Nemnich/Rich Paillet from lucky duck? (to fill ya in it would be cool to see people in the industry hunting together even though their business's are/may be competitors. Just have them get together for a weekend in an area and every 2-3 stands use the other companies caller. Just a thought) (3) How does calling coyotes at night using thermals differ from during the daytime?

Geez! How about just going into the woods alot. Use a basic predator call and shoot all you see. Honestly, I had to stop the video. Way too much "technology bull crap". Takes all the fun outa actually hunting. I only coyote hunt after deer season till early March and only do it to protect the deer herd. Usually drop between 8 and 12 coyote every season. Without 9 billion different call combinations or technology. Just sit quietly with an occasional predator cry. All you need.
@FOXPROINC Жыл бұрын
We love to see hunters be successful in the field. We’re just passing along some coyote calling knowledge. Using different sounds and sequences throughout the year will highly increase the amount of coyotes you will call in. We hope you have a successful deer and coyote season. Good luck out there.
@JJ-iu5hl5 ай бұрын
Good for you, buddy. Maybe different situations call for different responses. Perhaps people have fun with the ins and outs of calling. Everybody has their favorite way to interact with the outdoors. Thinking everyone should follow the exact method that you prefer is bonkers.

So you are out there with a long bow? Isn't technology great. Some take it shorter or farther, but we all use it. After all coyote would bite your hands.

That’s right only thing I would add is that if you are using a hand or diaphragm try to get the landscape to funnel the predator to you. Be it a road or water at your back. Give them a lane that makes them feel comfortable to approach! You see using a “plot line” like a “story” is not to tell a story persay. Coyotes don’t understand that. It is really so that you hit each one of the triggers that will lure a coyote to your rifle. By studying the biology of the animal (coyote, fox, bobcat) we can develop a believable story or sound sequence per time of year! Great video! Been trying to promote similar info for years!

Are those sounds pre loaded in a fox pro caller or are the mfk calls elsewhere?

Some sounds mentioned can be found on a standard sound list. Others can be purchased separately, or added to a custom sound list when ordered from the FOXPRO website. All sounds mentioned are available for purchase from FOXPRO.

Everyone plays a role. Coyotes are getting bad in the south-in my area, especially carrying rabies. They are getting bigger and bigger in packs, taking off small dogs and cats. Now they are breeding with bigger wild dogs, seen some pretty gnarly coyotes I call em alpha coyotes, they get big as wolves and will start to get bold enough to take off small children. You are the reason why women shouldn’t have an opinion on anything political but keeping the house clean. Can’t wait till y’all get your rights took away😂 country will be better off when y’all can’t have no say on nothing
