Great video, I’ve never seen the valves set like that I have always rolled it over and did em in the firing order, but you know what they say, there’s more than one way to skin a cat, lol, really been enjoying videos Dan😀😀

Great video, so from my understanding there shouldn't be no play on the valves?

So, zero lash is where none of the push rods have play, but depending on the crank position, some of them can turn with your fingertips. Then the 3/4 turn with the ratchet sets the preload.

Does this work on any overhead valve 4 stroke engine? It kooks simple enough.

Hey Dan, i just picked up a small block for my 49 Pontiac and it runs insanely good. I pulled valve covers off and it's got roller rockers and guide plates. It sounds pretty lumpy and very snappy. I noticed that the rockers are a bit loose. Will this technique work on my engine as well? Should I just tighten them, or should I set the preload as well? I remembered this video from way back and rewatched it.

If it was me, I'd probably go from scratch again using the same method.

Too bad that Chuck is gone! I've never adjusted valves using your method. However, I've adjusted (chevy) valves very few times in my life. Interesting!

After I made the video, Chuck has returned! I guess he was layin' low while that cat was hanging around.
