The mum-of-three, from California, admits to hypnotising her three children throughout their lives - with everything from potty training to excelling in exams by bypassing the conscious mind and instructing their subconscious thoughts. Lisa charges $125 per hour session and says that she has the ability to change ‘demons’ into ‘little angels’. Now she holds lectures teaching other parents how to hypnotise their children and says that mind influence is the ultimate form of parenting.

As a hypnotist, I find this reprehensible. While you can never be forced to do anything you do not want to do, children know on an instinctual level that parental approval is a matter of life and death. The withdrawal of parental protection and care means death for a child, which is why their disapproval and anger terrified you as a child. Combining hypnosis with the control a parent has over a child, they can indeed be forced to act against their will. This has absolutely no long term benefits. You cannot puppet a grown adult through life, and when you die, your grown child will be helpless because overbearing mommy is not there to command them. Raising children should never be all about CONTROL. It is about guidance without hand-holding. I like the philosophy of "A parent is the child's slave the first seven years, their teacher the next seven years, and their friend the following seven years."

If you are engrossed into a tv show then that is a mild form of awakened hypnosis and then a commercial comes on with an image of a cheeseburger and a voice telling you how much you want it and then you have a physical response of salivation, hunger and desire. In life we move from one trance state to another. When you are at home drinking coffee you are in one trance state, when you are focused at work you are in another, when you are driving and can't remember the last 10 minutes of your route is because you are in trance. Hypnosis is simply making use of a natural state of suggestibility. That's all it is.

this is disturbing. children are no longer children if they don't complain. She is taking away their own choices by manipulating their thoughts. Seriously if i were a mom i would want my kids to complain about doing chores .and children are suppose to overcome their fears by themselves. they shouldn't be manipulated damn it!!
