On the indian rug fringe, is the giveaway that there is that larger gap of white?

Glad that the video is of help... The softness of the cotton in the fringes along with the colors and the way the fringes are knotted (gaps of white that you mentioned) are all tell-tell signs.

Do you have any videos that tell viewers how to "read" the rugs -- vids that discuss the stories and legends behind the old designs? I know quilts made by slaves here in the US (prior to emancipation) often included maps leading to the north and freedom or stories about their lives, so I wondered if rug designs also contain messages or prayers.
