I used to see black ones when I was small. Food would be very tasty and this kind of ones we used for storing water and water used to be cold. Those vessels were called “ Kallparate” in kannada. I hope I can buy them sometime when I visit india. I cannot find them online.

5.07..wash it with normal soap? The detergent will enter the pores in clay pot and next time when you cook food, it gets in the food. Consuming detergent long term can cause serious illness. My suggestion is to use baking soda or salt or just wash it with plain water and clean with a soft scrubber and once in a while boil water in it with a slice of lemon to get rid of the smell.

@leaschmitt2496
@leaschmitt2496 4 жыл бұрын
No, it just means it's glazed. There's a vitrified layer on the inside that makes it so it's not porous anymore. But it's completely safe and I think you can even wash the shiny part with soap without problem.

How to identify the lead or toxins on the clay pot?
@jessieg1914
@jessieg1914 4 күн бұрын
American native Indians would start a small wood fire and turn their clay cookware upside down with the mouth on the fire but the key step was to add a corn cob inside the pot on top of the fire. The corn cob smoke would seal the clay without a glaze. #Antcientwisdom

@Zishta

The process you are mentioning is baking which needs to be done. Glazing is done after that and many a times to give the product a better aesthetic look. Glazing usually closes the pores of the clay and the property of the clay goes away

And these are made without glazing. So given that the soil is the best from delta region and the clay is unglazed, there is no contamination. The same has also been verified scientifically and tested in NABL accredited lab and complies iwth RoHS standards.

Is there a preference for glazed or unglazed clay pot for stove top cooking? I’m not sure if you were implying that glazed pots protect the food from the clays. I’m not sure if unglazed pots are preferential because the pores are open. Thank you.
@Zishta
@Zishta 4 жыл бұрын
glazed pots are not good for cooking as predominantly the glazing has lead contamination.always use unglazed clay for cooking.

I have brought an earthen pot for cooking but some kind of scent is coming from it.Do you know how to remove that scent?
@Zishta
@Zishta 3 жыл бұрын
Hi It is generally the earthy smell or if sometimes the clay has some impurities stuck in the pores - could have a foul smell. We recommend you soak (In a bucket of water add starch water or arrow root powder) it in starch water for 2 days and then wash them well and use. generally this process will remove the foul smell or the earthy scent.
