5.07..wash it with normal soap? The detergent will enter the pores in clay pot and next time when you cook food, it gets in the food. Consuming detergent long term can cause serious illness. My suggestion is to use baking soda or salt or just wash it with plain water and clean with a soft scrubber and once in a while boil water in it with a slice of lemon to get rid of the smell.

@leaschmitt24964 жыл бұрын
No, it just means it's glazed. There's a vitrified layer on the inside that makes it so it's not porous anymore. But it's completely safe and I think you can even wash the shiny part with soap without problem.

How to identify the lead or toxins on the clay pot?
@jessieg19144 күн бұрын
American native Indians would start a small wood fire and turn their clay cookware upside down with the mouth on the fire but the key step was to add a corn cob inside the pot on top of the fire. The corn cob smoke would seal the clay without a glaze. #Antcientwisdom

Nicely explained. but if it is non glazed pot then all the mud will get into the food on cooking? Is that safe?

The process you are mentioning is baking which needs to be done. Glazing is done after that and many a times to give the product a better aesthetic look. Glazing usually closes the pores of the clay and the property of the clay goes away
