If you are a family practice physician, general outpatient internist, nurse practitioner, PA, physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, or anyone seeking to identify patients with Parkinsonism, this video is for you!
It's crucial to be able to identify early symptoms of Parkinson's disease in patients. Early diagnosis and treatment can significantly improve their quality of life. If you suspect one of your patients is experiencing motor or nonmotor symptoms affecting their function, starting treatment as soon as possible is essential. Delaying action can have life-changing consequences for people with Parkinson's disease.
I am a full-time movement disorder neurologist at the University of Tennessee Medical Center. I also work as a neurohospitalist for approximately four weeks per year during my PTO or some weekends in Tennessee.

Thank you for this video it was very helpful and informative. I have a question though if you can help me with an answer please. What if a patient is diagnosed with many of the symptoms of Parkinson's disease but their ability to do exercise is limited due to other bodily injuries they sustained from being hit by a car in a crosswalk; for example what if they have injuries to their spine in their lower back as well as their neck also scoliosis and shoulder and arm and hand injuries as a result of that trauma? I guess what I'm asking is what if their ability to do exercises is limited and their General Mobility is limited to a power chair? What types of exercises would be beneficial to them? What about zero impact water aerobics or something of that nature what would you recommend what type of exercises? Thank you very much for your consideration.
