I’m not sure you’ve actually really dealt with someone with NPD. Please don’t confuse “having a few narcissistic characters” with being an actual ‘Narcissist’ or having ‘NPD’ which is a fully clinically recognizable personality disorder. (Infact, the very 1st thing I do in my 1st video, ‘Types of Narcissism’ is clear this misconception because people misuse this term & use it loosely). 2ndly, one may choose to call an actual Narc. “Monsters” or not, or choose to exchange stronger words for soft ones like “self oriented” for them, but words do not change facts. And nothing is an excuse for being ignorant of the highly toxic, gaslighting, & destructive behavior Narcs. bring into the lives of those who they choose to make their fuel or scapegoats. I suggest you educate yourself well on this topic since there’s plenty of great publicly available research & thousands of first hand shares & comments of those around the works; every age group, gender, background, & ethnicity who’ve suffered deeply at the hands of Narc. partners, parents, siblings etc. Please do not trivialize the actual mental/emotional/psychological or physical trauma of having to deal long term with a Narc. nor underestimate the capacity of a Narc. to consciously & deliberately destroy the fabric of happiness & peace of those around them. They lack core inner happiness, moral compass & much more. Also, I don’t know how you define terms like “self oriented”, or “success”. When defined right, those are actually INNER traits of strong character, courage, truth, self awareness, & wisdom which translate positively into outer life at home & work. As far as “self obsession”, goes, “obsession” of any kind in itself speaks of a negativity & inner imbalance & need of inner work & healing. Not being a Narcissist but still manipulating, seducing, or bullying others in whichever ways for one’s own growth, agendas is not an excuse; nor is it smart work. It still makes one a terribly toxic personality on the way to great long term inner unhappiness & others have every right to protect themselves from such a person! That’s part of what’s wrong with the world. Narcissistic traits are being glorified outwardly as something necessary or impressive. In reality, they’re only symptomatic of great inner emptiness & misery! As far as difference between narcs & non narc toxic people go, I actually have an entire video on it to make sure people do not wrongly label everyone toxic as a Narcissist. Finally, no one is responsible for making a Narc. “more destructive”. In fact, that’s where the gaslighting continues in the belief that someone else can do something more or something better to keep the Narc. happy! In reality, Narcs. are insatiable & ungrateful to the core & are themselves responsible for what they create in their life. Others can choose to hold compassion for the Narc. in their hearts but they still don’t hold any responsibility to change the Narc. And they have every right to be educated about Narcs. & about how to maintain their own health, sanity & happiness, & boundaries & to protect the fabric of their life👍

Their self obsession comes with a greater cost to their close ones as they try to break your confidence to feel great. They find fault in your behavior to justify their toxicity. If you are a friend or aquintance of a narcissist chances are quite high you will never see their ugly side. You're damn right. A covert narcissist is at least 10 times dangerous than their overt counterparts. It's really hard to figure it out that someone in your life is actually a covert narcissist. They're terribly adept at hiding their true self from those around them. For instance, I'm the master mind (INTJ),but I couldn't figure it out that one of my parents is a covert narcissist until recently. Now, my covert narcissistic parent is in their late 60s and nobody except me know who they really are. In order to spread awareness about narcissistic personality disorder please keep up the good job so that people in general can understand what a narcissist especially a covert narcissist actually is, how they abuse those around them, and how they operate under the facade. I recently came out from the relationship of 9 months with my girlfriend, when she started giving excuses to leave me, i was extremely upset, under depression, having no sleep for so many days that this can not be the reason, i was like what i have done wrong with her, because till now i considered her that she is so kind, humble, loving and caring but later I got to know that these all was masks just to get my sympathy, attention and to control me emotionally. Ultimately i could see that her real face is completely a devil. she always manipulated me, even she was cheating me also. And end of day when I proved everything in front of her, first when i was talking to her on call, she tried to cover up everything, again tried to manipulate me that i am right. But when she thought that now i dont have any way to escape then started saying sorry again that artificial crocodile tears, said i am feeling guity that i did wrong with you, i am not even able to forgiveness. After so many days we did last meeting to clear the things i saw that her sorries was just words, not any real realisation. This is what i thought to share about my recent experience. I’m sorry to hear that. Yes, there can be narcissistic as well flying monkeys family members under the same roof & that would be a horrible situation. However, just remember that all the people you talk about actually must display all or most of the specific’ narcissism traits’ in order to fall under NPD spectrum. Other people can be toxic too, but they won’t be labeled as ‘Narcissists’. So, it’s very important to have this clarity when dealing with difficult people of being able to differentiate between Narcissists & those who are not Narcissists!

My god…my ex would take wrong turns and go round and round for hrs and I couldn’t tell him anything if I knew directions. And later he would blame for not giving him directions. If I did I got in trouble if didn’t I got in trouble. At the end I stopped talking to him. I was so scared to talk to him. Every small thing he used against us. And if I really needed him for something..like I had to go for my exam for MBA and I hurt my leg. First he said he will drive and then he picked a fight for no reason where I didn’t utter a word and i knew he won’t take me. And in the morning I was crying and he was hiding behind the door and laughing.

I didn’t know much about narcissism although his business partner told me that he is a narcissist. His business partner named him cancer and I named him monster.
