How to import Adobe Illustrator Vectors into After Effects

Hi, I'm having a problem that I don't know how to solve. When I "create shape from vector layer" the color of my layer changes. So I had one layer that was a dark blue and after creating the shape it turned into black, and the light blue layer turned into white after creating the shape. Any idea?

i have question : when i import illustrator to AE and i have made the animation to all of them then i come back to illustrator i just add more layer then i come back to AE it's not update new layer i just add. When I import the ai file into ae it only shows up as a black screen. Even if I turn on the transparency mode there is nothing there. I made sure color is RGB. Any thoughts? I am so close! Great vid

Tried this out and it doesn't seem to work. Every time I import it from AI to AE it imports as a PS file. I found a fix for that "right-click" the file and select "new comp from selection." After that my composition is black. Even as a PS file, my file is just black. If anyone has a workaround or tip, I'd appreciate it.

I don't understand why Adobe switched everything into these annoying sub groups. It worked MUCH BETTER as it originally worked and you didn't have to constantly pick apart your artwork to make it work with AE. No wonder Sketch and Figma told hold.
