Thanks. I really HATE when a tutorial could be reduced to 20 secs and ends this long unnecessarily.

Takeaway 1. go to file/dependency/collect files 2. dropdown the collect source file, select "for selected comps"; tick "reduce project" 3. import the .aep file in the new project

This was a lifesaver. After Effects would keep throwing one of middle comp's pics on top of my last composition and no matter what I did, it just wouldn't go away. So re-importing the newly worked comp into my old file was the only option.

This is really well done! Thanks so much. Hey,...this may sound dumb,..but how do I export a composition out with no background (as you touched on really quickly in the beginning) so that I can bring it in as a clip to another project? I don't need it to be edited any further,..but rather I just want to import it into a new project as a stand alone clip.

I follow everything you show and I'm able to export and import into a new project. But the animation does not finish. Any thoughts?

Hey there and thank you for the video. What I want to ask you is if I can do this for a project I have created in after effects 2020 for after effects 2024. So basically I have created some projects in after effects 2020, but I want to download the 2024 version and what I'm asking is if in this way that you explained in the video will work for me, I want to import those projects from after effects 2020 into after effects 2024! Please, tell me if this will work for me!! Thanks in advance. 🙌🙌

Super helpful! Thank you. I am coming across a problem actually that I don't know if you have experienced before with this technique. I'm using the new composition in a new project and almost everything looks fine. The only issue is that if I turn on "Continuously Rasterize" a mask that I created using "Set Matte" doesn't display the content inside. The reason I'm turning that on it's because I want to resize the comp and when I do if that is not turned on my vector layers look terrible :( Any suggestions?

Question: Isn't it that After Effect allows you to import project (.aep) file while working on current project? Just import the .aep file you want and take the composition from the .aep file you just imported?
