You don't need to collect the files. That just makes redundant copies of files that are already on your computer. Just drag and drop the after effects project containing the comp into the project you want to use it in. To clean up, select all the comps you want to keep in the project and do File>dependancies>Reduce project... or don't.
@andrewpach5 жыл бұрын
Hello mate, while I appreciate and approve this comment I wouldn't tell "you don't need to collect files". There are different approaches to doing plenty of things. Let's say you have a huge project with 2000 elements. You don't want to drag & drop that into your new, already heavy project again to clump it up, then delete and possibly make after effects crawl like a snail. Your method is perfect, sometimes, but collecting items is also viable. Also, you must know that Reduce project doesn't always work 1000000% perfect, some projects are complicated and too many things are left over. It's a matter of preference but ANY AE user should know both ways - opening a project inside a project and collecitng items. This is supposed to be a tutorial if someone wants exactly that solution. Thanks!

Hello, after you sent the link I understand what you mean by that video, its interesting but I have plenty of videos in the pipeline to create. hellooooo i have question. In the past i have moved comps from a project to another one by simply copying and pasting and it has worked fine before. This videos was in my feed and opened out of curiosity and i see is a way more complex method for doing essencially the same thing, this makes me wonder. Why do this method and not just copy paste?
@wrongwrong716319 күн бұрын
wait.. i can't do it again. i can't recall how i did it but it was easy..
@andrewpach12 күн бұрын
Haha I'm glad you figured it out :) You can technically copy paste or even drag an entire AE file inside another AE file, but sometimes you just want a few comps thats why collecting them seems the best option...and how Adobe designed it with moving comps between files in mind.

Is it possible to edit the animation settings after you import the composition? I want to import multiple composition effects into single footage project and edit them differently according to each footage scene.
@andrewpach3 жыл бұрын
If you copied (collected) over layers with keyframes animations and options on them then yes, if they were parented to other comps and layers which weren't imported then it most likely will cause a missmatch error. But basically yes, it should be possible.
@NinjaOST3 жыл бұрын
@@andrewpach I have tried these methods but didn't fully work for me, In fact I have found another simple method after 8 hours of experiments. You can save your animations as presets then use them again anytime from the effects & presets library. 1. Open file > select solid > go to effect controls > select your effects > Animation >Save animation preset > set name > save. *It will be saved in your effects and presets library just like other effects, you can even delete that from library folders. 2. Open another file > select any solid > click effects and presets > type your preset name or search user presets > drag that effect onto your solid > you can still customize it further or do anything else you want with no error. I use this method in game development and some other tools, but not sure if it were also possible in this one. I hope it helps! Thanks for reply though, appreciate it mate.
