And that ladies and gentlemen. Is exactly how you impression a key! I am a CRL with ALOA 29 yrs experience Started out making keys to cars in the mid 90’s at car auction. That was 7 yrs of 70 cars a day 5 days a week. Impressioning is a way of life. Lol. I still impression everyday. A key make to whatever someone brings into the shop. I can impression a key to an Master padlock M1 key in under 2 minutes in most cases. Never over 4 minutes You did good job sir. Easy money.

@@Slideyvr you can remove the door lock and take it to a locksmith. There is a code on the lock and the locksmith will be able to code cut a key for you.

Another thing you can do to make the marks more visible is to blacking the edge with a Sharpie pen and the pins will scratch through the thin ink. I did this for my old Accord with an aluminum key made entirely from scratch.

a soft key. i believe it is the standard key just filed thin on the edge to make it thin and weak, making it "soft"

Its actually crazy how easy this stuff actually is to do. Burglars have it easy these days. They could sneak up on your house at 2 am for example and use similar techniques to fashion a working key then they can easily slip into your house in no time right after you leave for work in the morning and they can lock it right back up on their way out so it takes you a minute to even realise you have been robbed

Everyone should have high security locks and infrared security cameras with pan and motion tracking, that alert if GSM or wifi is blocked, like my house.

No you cannot impression side bar locks. Although I did impression a ford sidebar ignition when they first came out. I may have just got lucky, but Ford sidebar is different than gm style little wafers. I will consider doing a gm sidebar ignition lock removal video.

The wafer pins are on both sides in a 2005 Ford H75 key blank. It is possible if you solder the lead on both sides of the key blank. Difficult but not impossible. Better way would be to pick the ignition over to accessory and remove it, then take apart and make a key by code machine. Or you could put the key in a vice and hand file it. That would be a good video I will do one next time.

The file is called a pippen file. The key clamp I made by cutting a vice-grip clamp and welding it to a piece of steel.

It's a special soft key. I think is an aluminium key. Thats why he doesnt use a magnifier glass. Those marks in the key are simply visible, and you only have to rush them till they dissapear every time You rush...

This is a lost art with the modern locksmith. Tools used today take the Smith out of locksmith. With the exception of much older cars, this would be the preferred method for something earlier than 1980s vehicles. Your truck should be super easy.

The soft lead that comes off the key CANT BE VERY GOOD TO BRING CLOSE TO YOUR FACE when trying to see/shave the mask. Since you already got the bench for the vice, MAYBE bench light with a large glass that can slightly magnify it can keep help keep all the shavings on the bench and away from your face..

Hey. Don't know if you answer questions but I'll try? My fob has disintergrated with age. Still works perfectly except if you try & use it in the car, it falls apart again. So we got a key cut, stretchy chain & put the fob up, like when you start the car. And that works. But I just want a new fob with key without cost Aus $160 plus. Can it be fixed some way?

@@abclocksmithsecurity69 damn rekcehclleps that was Stengel when I typed it but it changed after I verified it I saw a key cut the way you showed I had put a new ignition in my Thatsoon 240Z and got tired of unlocking thru rear hatch or passenger door I went to a locksmith in San Diego one of the guys was in a wheelchair I pointed out my car thru the door jumped the curb and had my key about half cut by the time I got back to my car so I filed (pun intended) away what he did and saw your video realizing it was what I remember so I bought 2 blanks and 2 keyfobs off eBay for my 2005 Chevrolet Silverado

I will do a video on how to impression a key when there are wafer pins on both sides. But for now you can take out your drivers door lock. There is a key code stamped on it. Remove the rubber plug and unscrew the torx nut on the door jam perpendicular to the key lock. And remove the lock. If you text me the key code I will send you a key for $30.

Why did the video cut out right before he got the lock to turn? As if something funny happened in order for that key to work.. itd be much more believable if the video went straight thru without any edits.. As they say, "the magic of TV" Its too bad would have been a good video otherwise, but too much of a coincidence that the video cut out, right afterwards, "oh look the key worked, the lock turned, we did it, we're done."
