I speak Korean, English and Chinese (for Chinese I'm not at a fluent level yet but working my way!) and a lot of people ask me "how" I was able to improve so fast without having to study abroad. It's not a rocket science, it's the simplest logic in the world, YOU'VE JUST GOTTA ENJOY IT!!!
Recap:
1. Have a strong enough WHY
2. Go talk to strangers
3. Make TONS of Mistakes
4. Work Hard, Everyday

This is really late, but I've been learning Korean for almost 6 months now and to be honest, when I'm learning Korean I forget about everything else that stresses me out. I can have so many school assignments to be done and important tests coming up, but when I sit down and study Korean I just relax. I love it incredibly much, even though I can get really irritated when I can't seem to fully understand something.

For me, I am working on my English and French. From that experience, I learned that getting rid of mind barrier is important, the fact that you are speaking in other language with foreigners shouldn't be a big deal but a natural activity from daily practice. It took me long time to be able to speak in English, but French was a bit more easy after realizing the importance of destroying the mind barrier. For example, after learning English, I learned French in France, I had to receive a call, although my level of French was very poor, I was able to convey my idea using basic French. At that moment, I realized that I can say in French what I know. By working on English, I was able to destroy the mind barrier, which would come when I need to speak in foreign language and I was able to deal with just language not something else. If it didn't destroy the barrier, I wouldn't be able to speak in French via the phone, although it was a very basic conversation. Korean students already put lots of efforts and have a capacity in grammar but they can't really speak much. It is not a language issue but something else. and In that sense, the education should be changed.

Hi! I am kinda struggling because English is my barrier at college but I want to learn Korean. But I feel intimidated because I live in America so English is the main things I should master. But I don’t feel confident speaking English! I don’t know why but I feel that if I learn Korean I will be able to break that barrier of confidence! I may sound stupid but do you think that will help me? Just some advice what would recommend me? Should I study and focus on my English, or just later I can learn another language? Or give a try and see?

Chinese students too.We always fear to open mouth to speak out, worrying about grammar and accent.Actually, these are not important points. Why we learn foreign languages is for letting foreigners understand what we are saying. It's about communication rather than others

Thank you for sharing this insightful video. Most people learn foreign language due to external reasons and that is ok, and it can still be effective. I am most grateful to my mom "forcing" me to learn English because it is my main language now. Also, at an earlier age, the brain learns and retains much easier. When you are younger, we can not distinguish and appreciate what is valuable to us later in life. So, thank you moms! What helped me learn English faster was watching TV in English while also putting the hard work behind the scenes.

Hi, I have stumbled upon your youtube channel and found that your videos are plentiful. I know many people find it hard to speak English as natively or as fluently as possible. Honestly, I master English as a hobby because that's what I am constantly driven to learn English. Also, I agree with you that we need to ask ourselves why we learn English because it motivates us to master or discover more and more.

Hey, Vicky! It's a pleasure to watch a video with you after a year since we've met. I'm really thinking a lot about how free you seem to be while speaking, that's really what I crave to archieve, such freedom. I have to say that fluency is strongly connented with personality and with taking risks, being brave and so cool it is that you're let yourself be a little bit weirdo, because seems that's only made you more unique person and more successful with languages - that is what i've just thought.

How should I go by finding someone who can not only help me improve my English but also help improve my communication skills on how to start, end and maintain a conversation. Since a kid I've always been like an introvert.. quiet, private, but not shy. But I will change that, I'm soon going to start my own digital marketing agency and I want to be able to build relationships with business owners communicate with them and make sure Im able to do a presentation that will be simple for them to understand.. My favorite language mistake was when I was in China with my girlfriend at the time and her mother. They were preparing food for dinner and tried asking them if they needed help. I said "Ni Yao Jiu Ming Ma?" (Don't know the characters) and they both started laughing at me. I didn't realize that "Jiu Ming" means that you are screaming for help and not just asking for help. From then on, I realized that language learning is fun and making mistakes will always help me learn better, especially if it's funny. I'll never forget that "Jiu Ming" means to scream for help and thank god I have this funny story to share.
