With the timer blocks linked to a sensor that detects a sub-grid, this reminds me so much of the clockwork mechanism used in WWI and WWII fighter planes that prevent the machine guns from firing as the propeller passes in front of the barrel(s). If you're making such a plane in SE, this would be how you could tell the guns when to or not to shoot.

Loving the video so far. That paint recoloring tool is awesome, I didn't know about it. However, the paint gun mod has similar abilities. When you have the color you want selected, press shift+R for replacement mode and click on the block you want to change and every block on the grid that is the same color as that block will be replaced with the new color.

Great tips once again! The timer thing is so simple yet so effective; I've been using two timer triggers for my landing gear, didn't even think of doing it like this! One tip I have for you is to check out the Build Vision mod. It essentially allows you to access the terminal of any block just by looking at it. This is super helpful for setting up mechanical things as well as things like lighting. You can even edit the block's name right there, which means that you don't have to try and find 'that light" or "that rotor" in the terminal. Just name it "hallway light 1", go into the terminal, and find it separate from the mass of "interior light". I know you are a vanilla fan, but I find this to be a HUGE QL improvement.

Apologies has been bugging me to use build vision as well, I guess I’m just stuck in my ways, the spectator trick for accessing the control panel has worked for me for a while
@DaysofKnight Жыл бұрын
1:25 You don't need to click, or you period/comma. You just press Ctrl + 1-9. Much easier and much faster than having to click the boxes at the bottom and press a key that would relatively be in the middle of where your hands would be. (On WASD and your mouse.) Thus resulting in little to no movement required to switch pages (at least 1-4 anyway)

What about large grid on small? *mind blown* I am thinking of trying a welding ship that has its own assembler on it, I assume connected by an advanced rotor
@sampaki87543 жыл бұрын
FYI - You can make "Rotor guns" using nothing but a stack of rotors in a "group," and a few timers. Large or small blocks. It uses the exact principle of multiple tabs & slots on each timer increasing the "rotor offset" of said rotor group from slot #s 1 to 0, which causes the rotor group to increase in length in a fraction of a second, imparting a very quick impulse to the very front of the rotor, at which point the very last timer triggers the front rotor to "detach" whatever is attached to it, creating a fast slug/missile object. There are tutorials on youtube with this very concept. :)

Those cyclical timers would be great for quickly setting up ship modes, such as: red alert, yellow alert, all clear, minimum power, landing mode, position transforms of mechs, etc. Directly cycling between modes could be awkward, but using a two layers of timers and two buttons, the first could cycle choosing a mode (perhaps with associated text displays turning on and off to indicate), while the second button/timers do the actual changing of settings throughout the ship.

I've been using the rail-less catwalks in my floors on most of my large grid builds ever since finding the style on a workshop ship (Tsrugi I think it's called)? Anyway, getting illuminated blocks under those is kind of a pain when designing a ship, but it's definitely a nice look when it works. I've also been using text panels for navigation lights, but I usually can't bring myself to use a lot of them since the PCU adds up really fast. Also thanks for explaining the image converter tool and posting the link.

You are a way better designer and maybe you have already thought of this, but I had an idea after watching your projector video and then this video. When you said landing zone, I thought that would be the perfect use for projectors to not have to fool with cameras when you are trying to guide yourself into tighter spaces or trying to connect larger vessels. Use projectors and sensors to give you a visible guide when trying to position yourself to hook up to a connector or land in a designated spot.

The first problem with the timer is actually because when you first enter, the search bar is automatically in focus. You are typing into the search bar, but since the comma and period aren’t allowed(because they aren’t in block names), it looks like nothing is happening.

i would LOVE if there were arguments > if- then i would love if there were mode select > simultaneus - sequencia, l iwould love if there were for sequencial mode> selectable delay !!! this would reduce the number of timers used and would reduce the necessity of scripts also would make the timers more usefull than mearly "script clock"

Hey BlackArmor, again nice video :) Can you help me to solve a problem? How i can stop the rotors rotating the cryo pods? kzbin.info/www/bejne/nqWmZX-Ofqx2mNU The idea is that i step into the sensorfield and it rotates excatly 90°. I thought i could use a timerblock and simply set the time it needs to reach 90° but the rotors doesn't stop. Turning them off and using 'lock on' doesn't stop the rotating. I could use a landinggear to lock it or a bumper made of wheels but there must be a better solution for this.
