My horse is not at ottb, but she goes in and out of either fast trot or canter pretty much the entire time. I spend the entire lesson getting her to be more rythmic. Love this video

Got to do this with my leased horse. He starts out really lazy but at a certain point he thinks "ok time to get this over with". Then he picks up his head and gets super fast in trot. He's an old lesson horse so not sure how much impact I can have but will give this a try. Thank you for the great lessons!

Great video and we ate working on this with my mare. I had her te schooled last year as she was a passer. I did not want to seller her as she is lovely. She went schooling for 16 weeks and come home and each month we go for .ore training which we have done for the past 12 months. She is coming on great but a few issues hacking she is slightly spooky. Not nasty or sharp her back legs wobble and she jumps. I don't make a big think of it. She is very alert how do I keep her focus on me. Secondly when we go to canter the set up is important but now and again she has a little paddy and tries to run in a different direction and not bucking but some silly movement with her head down. How can I set her up for sucess to enjoy it as she does not do it schooling. I hate buckers having had a nasty bucket in the past. We are working on her transition to canter and she is sensitive. I don't canter everywhere but I would like to get to a position if it good place I want to trust her

Hi Tanya, I'm really sorry but your questions have so many answers depending on many variables and it isn't something I can answer in a KZbin reply. I can give you a couple of thoughts though. I was always taught by some amazing horsemen in regards to a horse losing focus on you or what you are doing with them " change of direction, change of attitude". So this to me means I do something different when I am losing a horses focus. It can be simple as a down transition or a turn. For the canter issue, I would need to see what she is doing to know if I had any suggestions for you. I'm sorry but there are far too many variables. Perhaps find someone you trust locally and see if they can help you. 🙂

Me with a 13.3 22 year old mare who has probably the worst confirmation in the world and always pops her outside shoulder, can’t even track up, even though I’ve been working with her with a trainer for a year now: mmm, right sure yeah

Any horse's trot can be improved on but if she has "bad" conformation are you expecting more from her than she can give? Looking back over my horse years I see that most of my horse's issues were actually mine ... I didn't have the ability to ride/train at the level my horse needed. I didn't understand the basics (and neither did a lot of people that were training me). Trust me even now after all this time I still learn everyday. Horse riding is not a linear learning path. It is circular and you come back around to what you thought you understood only to find there is so much more to know about what you thought you had a handle on! Have a look at this video which may help you with "popping the shoulder" kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4m9g6SAaqxrkNE
