Loved this handwriting video! I have a friend who only writes in Caps. Non-stationery ppl don't understand that there are many variables to consider when writing. For me, the neatness depends on my mood, the pen I use, how long & how fast I need to write down the information and where I am writing it. That's why I have so many different pens. The "correct" way to hold a pen is almost the way you are going to click your fingers with your thumb and index gripping the pen while the top rests in bn the curve of the index & thumb with your 3rd finger supporting the pen from below. It's called a tripod grip.
@birdandcatlover55973 жыл бұрын
My mom writes in all caps (said she started in highschool...teacher was dine with it as long as she could prove knowledge of "proper" writing). The letters that are supposed to capital are larger than the others, kinda like hoe cyrillic alphabet does it. So the lowercase letters are just miniaturized capitals.

I think one good way to start if you want to change your style is to just change one letter at a time. I started with curling my lowercase g's and y's in elementary school, and never made any changes until middle school where I started trying things like crossing my q's and changing around my uppercase Y's. And then in high school, I added a few things to my l's, t's, and s's and I practiced for like 8 months to add those to my normal handwriting. It's a slow process but whoever is reading this, you got this!!

ive noticed that the automatic switching you do makes the length of the letters fairly uniform while also being biased towards the letter case with guide points (ie. uppercase R has two legs that both sit on the line so you can match their lengths, whereas the lowercase r has a stroke that hangs on the tip arbitrarily). it's a very condensed and pretty look. i likely won't do it for myself but i think it's lovely

Referring to your comment about mixing Upper Case letters with lower case letters I also do this. I have done it for so long now it is just a natural thing. I don't even make a choice it just happens. People tell me that for a guy my handwriting is beautiful. They can't get over it. I tell them it's because I do not write my letters I draw them. Great Video. You are 100% correct, Don't try to copy someone else's writing. You will just frustrate yourself. I do however like how all your letters are uniform in size, I believe this is why your writing looks so neat! I honestly think that keeping them the same size keeps everything uniform and tidy. And tend to think of this as more of a personality trait than a writing style. You like organization and routine, This shows this in your handwriting skills.

Having the height of upper and lower case letters be almost the same, and mixing them around in the middle of words, is really causing my OCD grammar anxiety to rise 😅😅😅

I also randomly mix in uppercase letters, depending on where they fall in a word, without being conscious of doing it, as well as making all my letters (upper and lower) almost the same size. I hold my pen like you do and it baffles me to watch my granddaughter write with a grip that uses her ring finger and thumb to hold the pen tip. I'm like "how??" LOL The one thing I can't do is write as small as you do. I've always written medium to large size letters. I really needed to hear what you said about handwriting styles being unique. Thank you!

This makes so much sense And I have the same habit except my writing is quick notes format throughout lately. Not sure why. Maybe because I’m a fountain pen only user and it is much more pleasing than ballpoints or gel.

I’ve been trying to fix my handwriting before school starts and this is the only video that might actually help

Thank you, Helen! I guess I should probably watch this at regular speed when I practice with you. I've gotten used to watching videos at 1.75 speed (at least) so at 'real speed' still seems really fast to me. :P
