Looking for a simple but effective way to improve your running form, warm up and work on your technique?
Learning something like the A-Skip first acts as a foundation for you to be able to learn more complex drills that’s will carry over into your running
The reason you see all professional runners & coaches doing drills like these is because they help break down the complexity of elite running into manageable segments
By practicing the A-skip regularly, you'll strengthen & activate the muscles necessary to run efficiently and build the rhythm & coordination thats found not only in other drills but running itself.
A great tip for this drill is to start slow or even stationary and once you find your rhythm begin to increase your speed 💥
We all know that if you want to improve your running you should RUN! Right? but…..

I mostly perform drills because I’m 62 and I recently pulled my calf . Not as bad as I first thought . Could walk 2 days later . Did 30 minutes weighted 1:16 squats and deadlifts - now I can’t walk again. Boy , I need this . 6 months I did nothing due to an Achilles tendon problem . Bad excuse . I could have done my air bike or upper body strength . Well , I am back at it - taking it easy and making it fun.

Perfect tutorial. Will give it a go tomorrow when I am training. My only question is why? Is this a warm up activity? Or a drill to improve efficiency? Can someone please explain. Thanks.

I would like to do it after the race, not as a warm-up I can?

You definitely can use this as a cool down method once you have finished racing just like you can use almost all warmup routines as a cool down method as well...... However the primary goal of most drills is to prime your body to move very well but that doesn't mean they can't be used after a race.... For example in most cases middle-distance and distance runners will do a low intensity shake out run after a race for their cool down. Whereas sprinters will use low intensity drills, strides, and stretches.

​@@matthewaltyI understand I started doing this exercise as a warm-up before the race and my foot hurt a lot during the race (long run of 10 km) I don't know if it's because it's not right to do A SKIP and then go for a run afterwards or because I'm not prepared and need to do this exercise little by little, like starting with “A WALK” and then “A RUN” and finally a SKIP. what do you think?
