Like so many others have already said, these videos are worth your weight in gold (I would say worth their weight but videos weigh nothing). I've had all kinds of debilitating back, shoulder, and neck problems my entire life and I don't think I've ever gotten as much relief in one sitting as I have from your videos. This is my third video of yours and all have been top notch and SUPER effective. Like many others I've watched hundreds upon hundreds (probably thousands) of videos over the years, and although I've gone from borderline crippled to the best back health I've had in my life, this is some next level stuff. This is the most relief I've gotten from one sitting with any videos from any KZbin content creator, as well as from any paid courses I've taken. Your work will be a central component of my mission to age gracefully. I don't imagine I'll ever stop doing these motions/exercises. Thank you sincerely for your offering to the world - many of us appreciate it!

The modern “fitness industry “ has done more to damage human bodies, than anything else. Feldenkreis has changed my movement patterns, in ways I could have never imagined. High intensity, and level of difficulty, has very little to do with ACTUAL benefit. I am a person who loves fitness and healthy lifestyle. Feldenkreis has changed the way I view human health and movement, and impacted my overall fitness level immensely. You can’t train if you are in constant pain, and can’t move properly. You shouldn’t have to fight through pain!!

less is more:) moving slowly = feeling, sensing, thinking slowly = more chance of reorganizing the nervous system and movement patterns to improve movement quality! moving fast = default/habitual movement patterns (that get us in the current place).

Thank you so much Taro. I have dealt with frozen shoulder issues for many years and have spent a lot of time and money trying to get relief, but the relief, if any, was always temporary and not overly effective. With only watching this video and doing the exercises once for each arm, the results are amazing. My arms feel light and my shoulder mobility is far better than it was...and the movement is pain free! Thanks you so much for sharing your knowledge, you are a life saver. I'll definitely check out your other videos and recommend your channel to friends.

Very helpful. Two minutes in you suggest that wearing shoes or socks do not matter, however, as someone with size 15 feet in a world of "one size fits all" socks, I can with utmost certainty confirm that it does make a very impactful difference on the effectiveness of the body scan and lymphatic movements on the lower part of your legs, thus affecting the sensation in your hips and entire body. Of course, this effect is more noticeable the larger your feet are. Not wearing socks, shoes and even underwear is what has made me progress much faster with these types of neurological exercises. This and other videos you have made have really helped me solve problems I have been stuck with my whole life. Thank you!

Feldenkreis has changed my fitness in ways I never could have imagined. It’s too bad that so many “fitness experts” would overlook this as “soft” and “too easy”. With “systems” (I use that loosely) like CrossFit and HIIT, which are devastating to your body, especially if you aren’t trained and accustomed to that type of intensity, the fitness industry has done immeasurable damage to so many! I promise you, Feldenkreis can, and will, make so many positive changes to your overall health, which in turn, will make your regular fitness routine more positive and impactful. You can train at super high intensities constantly, which I highly oppose, but if you can’t move properly, you are just taking steps backwards.

Really terrific - been awhile since I've had time to do your exercises. Five minutes into this one, my body remembered what it feels like to use more than one body part to create a flow of effortless energy to move it. Great change from start to finish of the lesson. Unexpected reward: had a vaccination this morning - left upper arm hurt - after following with the right, I tried doing the rest of the lesson with the left one. Dull pain inhibited made the first couple of repetitions a little choppy, but very soon, even the pain of holding my arm up disappeared and the movement became smooth and I felt my rib cage, then my leg then my pelvis moving my arm. The throbbing I've had even sitting still with my arms down, is nearly gone entirely. LOVE IT!! Suzi

I feel they are movements that help each other, the more mobility through integrating the relationships of the rest of the body, it improves stability absolutely shown from this exercise, my shoulder felt micro shaky at the deltoid muscle and then felt so smooth after the practice, as well as range of movement of the neck, shoulder and ribcage. Thanks!!!

Thanks ever so much for your videos Mr Iwamoto. I had multiple shoulder (right) surgeries March 1st of this year and was told to keep my sling on for 6 weeks. Needless to say my right side has atrophied a great deal. I did 6 weeks of physical therapy and regained a fair bit of mobility but the strength never improved. I was able to follow along with this video but I had to use my left arm since my right arm won't lift to shoulder height. At the beginning I was able to move my arm just past my left side. By the end of the video my arm could go directly behind my back and over to my right side of my back. I wish I had never agreed to surgery because I don't think I'll ever be able to do this with my right arm again. Anyone considering surgery, please research every possible option first. There are no do overs once they cut into tendons, muscle and bones...

Hi Taro . I stumbled across youre videos by accident and I'm so glad I did! I've suffered for 9 years with a tight sternomastoid muscle on my right side and tight shoulder as well. My face on my right side can tighten and there@s pain at the back of my ear as well.. I'm a Joiner to trade so it makes a days work with this problem very difficult.. I'm slowly managing to get some relief from watching and taking part in youre videos.. Hi Taro, I'm looking at improving my swimming and after searching for a shoulder mobility exercise with Feldenkrais I found this one. After doing the exercise I've realised that I could give my shoulders a bit of a break when I swim and get the movement started with the power coming more from my hips/core than from the shoulder. What are your thoughts please? Thank you for your videos!!!
@TaroIwamoto Жыл бұрын
Hi! Your realization is spot on! Coordination between arms, torso, pelvis, legs is a key! And, initiating movements from hips, and transmitting movement to torso, and arms evenly is important.
@mtorro21 Жыл бұрын
I constantly reinjure my shoulder by using mostly my shoulders to hit when playing volleyball. I'm interested to see if these exercises translate to helping the body as act as a whip vs brut strength hitting.
@TaroIwamoto Жыл бұрын
absolutely will help with that! First, practice these movements slowly until you master the sequencing and timing of these movements, then gradually increase speed. Faster movements will elicit automatic movement patterns that have been used many many times, so to override habitual automatic patterns, you need to start slow until the brain learns the patterns very well.
@TonisPe3 жыл бұрын
Could you please clarify - is the target is to move the hand with body rotation or only the hand? I started to move with my body in the beginning but then you mention only to follow the hand with the head! And body rotation will follow in the second part of the exersice? Thanks!

the idea to to improve coordination between shoulder and torso to reduce stress to shoulder. following the hand facilitates movement of torso while moving arm so let the body follow your arm and head.

You mentioned the tightness in the chest and ribcage which I noticed immediately. Why do they become so tight?
@TaroIwamoto3 жыл бұрын
there are so many factors that contribute to that, so I cannot say why for sure, however, many daily activities such as driving, desk work, use of phone/tablet are facilitating chest to close. Another thing is that flexion/closing patterns are associated with stress and anxiety. If you're under constant stress over time, your flexors are contracting all the time, leading to tightness in the chest and ribcage.
