there was a kid on my campus that rode his board everywhere but never any padding. a few months ago he was riding his board to work when he ran over either a crack or a rock and was lunged forward and hit his head on the sidewalk. his brain stem detached and his family had to take him off the ventilator because he was never going to wake up. his name was logan. there is nothing wrong with padding. it can literately save your life.

I was skateboarding down a huge hill and well my skateboard started wobbling and I lunged forward and the first thing that slammed to the ground was my head. I was out cold and went to the hospital. I luckily had a helmet on and the nurse said if I hadn’t had one on, I’d crush my skull. I can’t remember anything about that day, that’s just what my mom told me. I only got a concussion, really bad black eye, and cuts all over my hands; arms; legs and face. Always wear a helmet.

Honestly you're cute and skater boys dream of having a skater girl even if they don't tell their friends. so the only thing you should worry about is if they guys are being overly picky or mean to you they probably just all like you and are too afraid of each other and you to show it. Emme Jo, put your kicking foot up first on the board, like walking, have your other foot to pump then when you are fast enough put both feet on the board and face them to the side, but when pushing put your kicking foot facing the front. Hope this helped!🙂

Tell me about it. Back when I used to race bmx, looped out learning a manual at a pump track, faceplanted into tarmac and nearly got concussed - if I had hit any harder, A&E would have been involved. And only recently, when I was mountain biking, hit a tree and guess what hit the tree first? My head. broke my helmet but not my head, hiked back to the car park, bought a new helmet and went back out. Would've been a trip to a hospital had I not worn a helmet.

I don't give a shit what the general consensus is on helmets, but when I'm trying something new or skating at a decent speed and attempting tricks, I wear my helmet. My dad almost died riding his bike when a lady hit him from behind at 35 mph. He is living right now because of his helmet. Sure it's not skating, but I just don't want to risk anything.
