My Forex broker is well known International broker and released a report last year that showed a bunch of statistics across their entire retail book for two years of data. It was actually a bit alarming, it showed that on average the win rate across all pairs had averaged 50% and the average risk to reward ratio was only 0.6, so that means, the average trader loses money. What's more alarming is that if we apply data into a bell curve distribution, it means that only about 20% of traders where profitable, and then only about 5% of traders were profitable enough to make trading viable, given the risk taken. I don't know how accurate the data is, or if the broker has a hidden agenda behind the numbers. The report also included advice like in this video as to how to improve the risk/reward ratio.

The brokers report sounds about right. Look into the 90 90 90 rule (90% of traders lose 90% of their account in 90days)...so true. The other urban fact is 90% of retail traders lose money...only 10% actually make money...of that 10% the top 5% make real money (which means the bottom 5% only breakeven if not make a pitiful living). Its all true...trading is the 'hardest easy money you can make'...its not for everyone...only those who know what they are really doing can you make more than a basic profit. I agree with the video...winrate is inversely proportional to RR. Find an edge to raise your winrate and reduce RR to be even more achievable. QED

A high risk to reward ratio means you're risking more to gain less and therefore need a high win rate. Shouldn't your graph be the other way round?
@Tshiamo_Setshedi6 жыл бұрын
Geraldo Bock Good day bro. A high risk to reward ratio means you're risking a certain amount to gain more. So for example you're risking 20 to make 60which is a 3:1. Generally speaking the probabilities of the market moving 3 times your risk are much lower than if you go for a 1:1, hence a higher risk to reward ratio usually results in a lower win rate. I hope that clarifies your thinking.
