One of the greatest lessons to this topic! So pragmatic yet well founded. My lines just improved a lot. Now I know what I will do during Christmas lockdown

Great! I'm glad it was helpful. It's so helpful to me to read the KZbin comments so I can figure out what students are struggling with and what they need.

Thanks for another great video. Regarding the Barry Harris R.I.P. half steps, in later years he evolved to it being any note and not just passing notes. So instead of an Ab between A and G, choose any note. This applies anywhere a passing tone would ordinarily occur. Happy Holidays!

Good to know! Thank you! The b6 makes so much sense, though, because it ends up placing the root, third, fifth, and sixth, the most consonant notes, all on the downbeats if you play the scale in eighth notes.

@@JeremySiskind I think you misunderstood me. Barry's rules and downbeats remain the same, but the added half step can be any note, not just the one in between. So descending C B A Ab G could be C B A x G with x being any note and not necessarily Ab.
