I thought at the end you were going to play some old thing from Delaney & Bonnie or maybe the intro to the version of “The Letter” from Joe Cocker’s Mad Dogs and Englishmen record (if you even know/remember both those overlapping groups - English blues by way of southern American rock and roll, with some California studio players thrown in). That’s just a commentary on how popular playing relative major licks is in minor-key blues/r&r and other music of recent decades. I don’t know why you waited to show this video, but it was a good one.

What you're actually listening to is not "just" the "notes" but the "qualities" the notes in their relation to the context. Each note of the major and minor scale has a specific function to them and it's when those functions clash that great music is made. What Tomo is really showing here is that when you play an A minor and mix it with a D7 the D7 has an F# in it and that "clashes" against an A Minor tonality because to make a minor scale you literally just play a major scale but flat the 3rd, 6th, and 7th scale degrees. Every time you do that it becomes a minor scale. So when you DON'T flat that 6th scale degree it clashes and makes that cool sound that is really dorian. I hope this helps.
