That Perfourmer is so useful. You can change up the whole track to sound entirely different with a few turns of knobs. Saves so much plodded menu diving on the Okto. Love this setup man!

It’s cool to see people use that Model 1 mixer for a performance tool and more for than just DJ’ing. It is more of a high quality mixing desk with parametric eq’s and low pass and high pass filters than a DJ mixer!!!!

The Octatrack is the most versatile sampler you can get!!!!! It’s a live performance tool and a studio workhorse that can be the center piece of your studio that you can use as a master sequencer or it can be secondary piece as a drum machine/ sampler!!!! It can be complex or you can keep it simple!!!!!

This is pretty much ideal what I would like to aim for. There is always that multi way street of how much you have prepared things and how much is purely on the fly performance. I have a drumming background so I really feel you when you talk about this performative aspect of playing live. Currently I have been preparing some ambient and techno sets for Digitakt which would be easy to take to park or where ever just by one man. Currently they are preprogrammed stems which I would compose together and tweak in-situ. Of course that is not purely improvisation as there is already pre-programmed sequences involved. But then again music hardly ever is purely improvised. In a band songs have already been composed and very well practised before any live performances. That Perfourmer looks really nice instrument for that use. I currently have Polyend Medusa which I think would fit really nice for your approach. It has 6 oscillators which can be independently assigned to different midi channels. I don't have Octatrack either but yet again I think I could use my Digitakt for sequencing. That setup with mixer and Collider delay + reverb would be pretty portable and I could definetly see myself playing some mellow background tunes in some shady brew pub.
@BonasBuden
@BonasBuden 3 жыл бұрын
Have to correct myself. Medusa does have combined VCF for all of the oscillators so it is a huge drawback against Perfourmer. Also envelopes don't have controls knob per function control for each oscillator and only one output channel so can't send oscillators separately to FX.
@OoraMusic
@OoraMusic 2 жыл бұрын
thanks for the share, really interesting. Medusa was on my list ( also their SEQ ) still want to try one!
@BonasBuden
@BonasBuden 2 жыл бұрын
@@OoraMusic Regardless of its shortcomings in this particular application I would say that the Medusa is a keeper. It is really versatile synth tonally. Besides playing arps, melodies, bass and such just as any synth I think it shines in creating slowly evolving textured drones. Also there is something particular in its own sound. It is hard to describe. I would not say it is metallic but somewhat interesting tonal character. It's not that it's cold or anything. It is more so analog sounding than your average analog synth. Example during warm-up you can hear it getting out of tune and you need to use calibration functionality. Once it is warmed up it keeps tune pretty well. Sequencer adds whole different dimension to it. You can map many different scales in different configurations on the pads. That many times leads to interesting results when playing different layouts. Pads have velocity and X / Y aftertouch which could be mapped to any of synths controls.
