Dang! I have trouble with rhythm,,, not the counting…but I get stuck on one and can’t get get out….for example…I’m apparently obsessed with 6/8 and 3/4 ……your comparing it to speaking or a poem really helped me take it up a notch. Thanks so much🌺

I only needed the "silence your critic" :) finally sat down and let myself free and it was amazing! Thank you so much

Wonderful to hear! I was thinking of this exact same advice last month as I sat down to try and do a new years improv - for the first couple tries I was aware of trying to achieve something/pressure, and then I was able to sink into just creating sound/music and it went much better.

I use modes to improvise. So easy. you only need 1 or 2 chords and it sounds good. basically what you did here, as C is a mode. Love your videos.

Happy New Year! 89% of my playing is improvisation. Then I write it down and never play it again LOL! It’s very freeing! Thanks for the encouragement!!!

I LOVE your videos!! I was a classical pianist my entire life and now in my 60s always wanted to play a harp. It was an opportunity to play and not be expected to be great. I like your 5 mis improv first- going to start today!!! I always wanted to be free of the music!!
