YES PLEASE, do a course on improvising, more depth. I, too, wad was completely intimidated at the prospect of improvising, but once I learned a bit and no worries about theory or wrong notes on pentatonic, I was hooked! I'm ready for more!

This is exactly what I needed! Thank you so much. I’ve been really struggling with improvisation, I just needed some guidelines like this. I love the explanation and text reinforcements. It already seems so much more possible. Yes! To an extended course! 💕💕💕

In addition to learning more on improv, I absolutely would love it if there were courses about music theory. I want to explore modes, but reading about it doesn’t do much good. I need to hear it. Maybe you could do lessons where we hear you say and play “this is Dorian… this is Lydian….etc,” so we can hear them comparatively. I also want to learn chord progressions this way. It would be great to hear side by side someone explain and play “this is a diminished chord…this is an augmented chord…” etc. Keep up the great work, and thank you for all you do!

Thanks for these tips, a nice addition to your previous video about improvising! I have always seen improvisation as something mysterious and unreachable, but now I think I could give a try... As soon as I'll have some time with my harp! I also vote for a more complete course on that subject, and would be interested by a video about modes with exemples, too... I used to know a little about that, but forgot everything! I found out how learning the harp is a wonderful way to (re)learn music theory 🙂

Claire that's awesome! I'm so glad that it feels less "mysterious and unreachable"- and that was also part of why Christy-Lyn did this video, to show that it can be simple and doable!🥳😄 Let us know how it goes. Xx Nicole, LTH Team Member

Yes please! Make in depth improvisation course-s ! Actually I have "no problem" with improvization, but I need to get know how to make "music story" when improvising. How to start, what put to middle, how to make progression and how to end. To sound as a song, not just repetitive nice shorts of melodies...

Very exciting video. Thank you for taking the time to make it. I just tried it. I think even with improvisation it still comes down to technique. I just couldn't get it to sound anywhere near what you did because your Technique is A+ and mine is D. 🙂
@LearningtheHarp3 жыл бұрын
Aw that’s totally fine, Jeff! I don’t think we need to think about technique while we’re improvising. When you’re doing this kind of improvising, just focus on the experimental nature of it and have fun making up things, don’t worry too much about how it sounds for now. Just the process itself is fun, and over time your technique will grow from learning pieces and your improvising will sound even better ☺️💕 Well done for trying it on your harp straight away, that’s very exciting!!

Modes: Start someplace else, end where you started. Play arpeggios. To sound really good, pay attention to 5ths relative to where you started.

Thanks for sharing Christy-Lyn, this is so fun! For the adagio of any order for right hand, does it has to be in the save Octave on the right hand? If I play lower octaveG then -C-E on right hand, it sounds move like a G chord rather than a C chord. What's your suggestions? Thanks!
@LearningtheHarp3 жыл бұрын
Hi there! I’m not sure I’m exactly understanding your question, but I’ll try to answer: if the left hand stays the same, it should still sound like a C chord even if you play the right hand notes in different octaves. Another thing to remember is that there is no right and wrong with improvising! You can do what sounds good to you, just follow your ear 😄🙌🏻

Hi I play harp a lot at home. I notice when I want to do a video Even though I have played it right, when I play in public , I make some bo bos....Sometimes my timing gets delayed a note and causes problems. Is this stage fright or something that happens even to professionals?
