How can you increase the limit on your credit card? Here are some simple ways, but they're not guarantied to work. You can try calling the credit card company and ask for a limit increase, you can go online and fill out an increase request, you can add an authorized user or you can simply keep using your credit card and hope for an automatic increase. lets say i spend $200 out of my $300 spending limit and i pay it off before the monthly payment is due would that still affect my credit score negatively?

Paying it down before the due date will benefit you. You should pay it down to 1- 2% of that 300 before the due date. It will be report that you are using the card and that you are being responsible paying your debts and by keeping a low utilization. By doing that monthly or only spending 1-2% to begin with, you will begin to see your score rise and you will be more likely to receive a credit limit increase when you ask. You may also be able to receive one automatically, depending on your institution. A lot of people say to stay under 30%, others admit that lower is even better and a lot of people advocate for 10% of your limit. I have found 1-2% to be the sweet spot.
