A lot of people that ask this question tend to be teenagers in the amateur scene. They forget they don't have that man power that you get once you hit your 20's and are generally competing with bigger gloves and headguards. Put your faith in God. Power will come whenever he wills for you. Be patient and train hard, work on your stamina , technique , mental fortitude and the exercises/advice from Coach Anthony. Power will come in no time. And always believe in yourself. Never has there been a knockdown in the history of boxing where the person who scored the KD didn't believe in themselves.

Great video. I've seen training footage of Foreman and Tyson where they are putting dents into the heavy bags, working specifically on power. A lot of boxers are hitting the heavy bag at 60-80% power or so it seems but just like we have speed rounds on the heavy bag, we should have power rounds as well.

Another great video. I am so glad you emphasized technique. I have seen too many people just whaling wildly on the heavy bag but mostly throwing arm punches and not getting their hands back into the correct position. It is a sure way to build bad habits and lose potential power.

My natural gifts are speed and reach, not heavy hands. But I learned to use my kinetic chain and transfer my weight to my lead foot.

Speed is power as well....also learning to throw combinations and setup shots at half power then the 3rd or 4th shot from an angle with power. ..the one they don't see. Mike had a ton of kos from footwork and angles. Used his legs and had tremendous leverage in his shots. But yes power is a gift...like speed...it's genetic. Bone structure...length of the lever arms...etc.

I was always told that puncher power is one of gods gift. Punching power can be developed by learning how to sit down on your punches, proper feet location , and putting your body into throwing punches without losing balance. . My coach use to you say sit down and put your ass into your punches. You literally have to squat slightly and bend the knees in order to throw hard shots. The difficulty is not losing your balance and able to recoil back into a defensive posture or throw more combinations.

after years of training, when i lift weights i strikes later more power and fast, but its depends on all your body movement or mechanics go along correctly after lifting weights its may need little time to reach your body power and speed potential one of the main reason is also lifting weights tightness and stiffens your muscle prevent you from striking on full limit.

I totally agree, I believe punching power could be developed by training but you are only going to get to your own personal potential. And some people happened to be blessed with crazy KO power. My brother and my dad were very lucky to have been blessed with it, but as for myself ,not so much. I had to work and train hard and perfect my technique to develop my full potential which is enough power to get the job done, but my brother and pops can throw an arm punch and knock people out. I experience 1st hand that everything you explained in this video is accurate. Thank you for the righteous and accurate content thanks and God bless

This is about body mechanics. If you don't know how to generate power on your INDIVIDUAL body, hitting the heavy bag is not gonna make you stronger. Its gonna lead you to getting injures. The study of biomechanics and resistance training with the right chain movements, will help you to get stronger. Seems like hitting a heavy bag is good for simulating hitting body blows and or practicing feeling resistance to your punches. The only way you would know if you have gotten stronger throwing a punch would be testing the punching power. Anyway, this seems like a click title anyway. The coach basically said, "Either you are a puncher or your not" So, really this is not about being able to punch harder anyway. Good luck on your technique and timing.
@HulkVahkiin
@HulkVahkiin 3 жыл бұрын
Spot on about body mechanics. Coach Anthony actually touches this in his later videos. A heavy bag is pretty much a movable tree. You the Boxer who is the woodchopper will eventually get accustomed to hitting that tree thus building up more powerful. It's also a good way to test your punching power, one should know whether he is hitting harder than before. It's not really for clicks, hitting the heavy bag for power is one of the oldest solid advice. Technically proven too if you listen to the stories of Mike Tyson and Rocky Marciano.

Sometimes the punches that knock people out are also the punches they don’t see coming. They got some impact, but they aren’t all or nothing strikes. They’re smart. If you don’t hit like a truck no worries, anything that hits you when you’re not looking can put you down. Good advice. Gonna hit the heavy bag more. Especially with my straight right.

Personally I feel that when throwing hooks and uppercuts I can generate significantly more power than straight shots on the bag, obviously there will be some discrepancy between the power of straights and other shots but I feel mine is more than normal, someone told me it comes down to body type and that tall opponents with long reaches have the opposite issue with lateral shots. What are your thoughts on this coach anthony

Your right but an uppercut bag or a heavy bag sideways against the wall is better overall because it teaches fighters to bend they're knees or sit on the power like we say as well as technique.

Obviously some people carry more power naturally than others. I feel like once you learn to sit down properly on your punches and tighten up your technique you’ll max out your power pretty quickly. At least in my opinion setting up punches to land precisely is more important than how powerful you are, people always rave about Conor Mcgregor’s power or Errol Spence’s power but honestly both those guys just know how to place their shots perfectly, neither really have that one punch murder power. Same with Usyk last weekend, not at all known for his power but he was just placing that left hand perfectly on AJ’s chin and making wobble time and time again🤷‍♂️ You should worry more about speed and placement in my opinion
