I also faced the same prob. For weeks!! Speed boosted from 140 kbps to 95mbps. The foll. Steps helped me to solve it. 1.open network and sharing center 2.click your wifi connection 3.click properties 4.Then click on configure 5.Go to advanced 6.Change the 802.11nbandwidth frequency from 20MHz to 20/40MHz Auto . So I thought the issue was that my PC was upstairs. No. The internet I had was capable of reaching devices very far. I was always lagging, only on my pc not phone. On minecraft my ping would spike up and down every 10 seconds, it was terrible. For the past 1.5 months I thought it was bcs I was far. No the problem was my windows was using 80% of my internet. Changing DNS: If you have multiple computers using your internet connection, it's probably better to change the setting on your router rather than in Windows.

Yep, even for a single device, that's the way to go. And the Google DNS server is located in the USA. Bad choice if you live overseas on the opposite side of the world. Response time slower than other local DNS servers provided by your ISP.

This is why there are more than one DNS servers listed to be used. All servers can only manage so many IP's at one time and if that server has to many requesting, will slow down it's communication. Also you have no idea what other services are running on that network so they can easily throttle outside network requests so their network runs smoothly. Knowing how windows works in general with DNS cache there really is not point in changing your DNS servers, because windows will help circumvent this name resolving process after the first request for up to one day normally.

This video seriously helped me alot! It increased my download mbps from 3.18 to 52.37, and my upload speed from 1.8 mbps to 14.30 mbps! Apparetly, after installing the gdpedit thing, i realised that my bandwidth limit was for some reason, not limited by 20%, but 80% for some reason, so the final tip just like you said was definetely the most useful one in the entire video! A well deserved like if you ask me...

if you set your connection to a metered connection, windows tells you it shuts stuff off in the back ground and limits it's own background downloading of Microsoft stuff. check it out in addition to the great info in this video. cheers from Connecticut!

the first method work wonders. changed my speed from 0.96 mbps to nearly 200mbps

I went from about 550 KB/S for download speed to about 10 MB/S so it helped quite a bit

Did you do the bandwith thing? edit: i just did the last thing and my download speed was around 8-11mb and now is around 27mb but the upload speed hasent changed
