Having seen videos for how Prehistoric Pets and other breeders do their incubation, it makes a lot more sense now! They talked about thoroughly washing their pearlite (sp?) and then just putting a little bit of water in the bottom. I'm assuming they add the water because their incubators don't have an external water source. They didn't really explain WHY they did all that, but you just did! Now that I understand how their system and your system work, I feel like I'm armed with a TON more information to make a decision about how to incubate. Yours definitely seems like something I could get started doing right now without needing to buy a bunch of expensive equipment. I'm really enjoying your channel, keep it up :-)

Amazing video, I already started using your incubation method and I'll probably never change it, it really does work great but it's cool to hear the theory behind your method. My only complaint is I couldn't find the exact cooler you use and it drove me crazy (OCD) and all but I found a comparable cooler and am all good now. One of my goals is to some day be able to get a super dwarf from you, it's one of my dream animals but I want to make sure I have the correct enclosure, I plan on building a really nice one where I can actually see the snake instead of my racks. Thanks again for your awesome videos.

Absolutely. I would even do the perlite the same way, or use a 50/50 perlite/vermiculite mix. You just need to find 2 different sized containers, and a small water heater.

hey just had a question about how you regulate the overall temp in the incubator, and what temp to set the water heaters at. otherwise very helpful video, thanks!
@ReachOutReptiles6 жыл бұрын
You measure the temps in the egg boxes, and adjust the water temp accordingly. The actual water temps are irrelevant, as long as they accomplish and maintain the correct temps where the eggs are. ;)

Hello I have a makeshift incubator that I am using for my 3 leopard gecko eggs. They are just in a container on top of a heat mat the temperature fluatuates a lot and the eggs are a bit wet on the bottom. My 2 week old gecko is red when candled but it has a dent starting to form on the bottom. When I pick it up the egg seems to have moisture on the bottom is there anything I should do ?? The temp fluctuates between 80 to 90 degrees. My put in new jungle mix to change that so they don’t keep on damping. I am buying perlite and a heat mat cooler so the temp could stay at 85 degrees I will switch them to a cooler is there anything I also need

I know you said to start off with damp perilite that clumps, but fast forwarding 3-4 weeks does the 100% humidity of the incubator keep the perilite damp or do you have to add water once again to moisten it up? I live in Pittsburgh. Is your heater adjustable in temperature? Or just one with an auto setting? 200W is way more than enough to do the job, but you need a way to turn it up or down. You will also want the circle pump or you won't have even heat throughout.
