I just came across this after purchasing an inflatable kayak. Another site noted that the Schraeder valve adapter needs to have the Schraeder valve removed from the stem to allow the higher pressure air to free flow. The valve in the boat will prevent back flow, and removing the valve will allow the high pressure pump to inflate more rapidly. I have the Ryobi inflator and will be giving this a try when my adapter arrives, but you might give it a try as well and let us know how it goes. 😃

Just a little bit of information for you. That particular DeWalt inflator is only supposed to be run for 10 minutes at a time. The motor gets very hot and needs to cool. If you read your instructions, you will see this listed. Just wanted to let you know. We bought a inflator off of Amazon for the SUP board and it works great. Was only like $60

That’s very helpful information, thank you! To be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever read one of the manuals to my power tools I just take that big yellow box and throw it right in the trash(or fire pit) with all the paperwork. Haha. On another note, I switch to using the shark pump as seen in one of our other videos, it has a built-in cooling fan and does it in about nine minutes (at normal elevations at least). Glad to hear that Amazon pump is working great for you!

I used the same pump from Dewalt over the weekend. And was unpleasantly shocked at the time it took to inflate. Me and the family have 4 SUP’s so you can imagine how disappointed I was at the time it took to fill. We ended up using the high flow pump to fill as best as possible and then using a double action pump the rest of the way. Still exhausted…. Back to the drawing board

The Dewalts are super slow at this! Certainly not a speed option! If you want a dedicated pump, they tend to do a bit better. I reviewed the shark and whale pump by outdoor master in another video, they have some nice features

I've also been messing around with this inflator. Leaning towards just using the Dewalt to inflate it with the high volume hose for 2.4 minutes and just using the hand pump to finish it off. Better to do that than wait 32 minutes using the schrader valve

I’d be curious to hear how long it take you to finish it off with the hand pump! I honestly haven’t used the hand pump yet. I will say second time around I did it in a few minutes less, believe mine was leaking in the video, hence the broken paddle board.

@@SweetAdventures I use the hand pump to top off the board as the Ryobi does not have enough pressure to get up to 5psi. Since the inflator runs for 90 to 120 seconds it leaves me with 5 or 6 mins to fully inflate. I do put up a good sweat, but 30 mins is a lot of missed SUP time in the water.

@@franknotzappa if u don't like to manually pump. Buy a 2 stage sup inflator. Either the 12v or the battery operated. For me to the use the ryobi 18v inflator (2min) and hand pump for 6min is exhausting. I did not factor in the hot weather. Heat slows you down. I did my original times indoors,.much easier. Also if you have 2 boards, there is no way I can hand inflate in 6m, more like 10-12m for second board.

I guess I’ll answer my own question, it probably has to do with the volume of air it needs to push in to maintain pressure.

I think your answer is spot on! The inflator tool takes a long time on my F350 and 42’ fifth wheel tires. Both have a wide footprint and are 18” tire @ 80 & 16” @ 100 psi. A great tool, just not created for large volume applications! The goal of my video was to show “how” to do it. Not the best method. I was sitting one day wondering if the tool could work 🤔

@@SweetAdventures I have a request/question, since most iSUP inflators are plugged in to the car’s 12v outlet and inflate to 15psi in ~10-15min, would it be faster if you do the same? I, myself, have noticed weaker air output with my 3AH vs when I use a 6AH batteries, would direct to the 12v outlet be any different you think?

I guess it would be a good option if it didn't take so long but really not worth the time. My wife and I can use the manual pumps that came with our paddleboards and have them ready in 5 - 10 minutes. I don't understand all the complaining, it really isn't that difficult to pump these things up manually. I have a large river SUP that has 3 separate air compartments and I can have it fully filled in less than ten minutes. I suppose using an electric pump would be nice if it didn't take so much longer but most of the reviews I've seen from these small compressors - even the ones made specifically for SUPs - seem to take longer than just doing it manually. Yeah, it takes some physical effort, but isn't that part of the sport? Also: it only took a couple of minutes using the Dewalt pump to get it mostly filled. It seems like the way to go is to use that for most of the volume, then use the hand pump to finish it off. That would be much quicker.
@SweetAdventures

Conclusion: It took you 34 minutes to screw up your board. You need to buy an electric pump that is made specially for inflating isups. Once they reach the desired pressure it will stop. I got a 14 feet isup and it takes 17 minutes to reach the selected psi.
@SweetAdventures

Hi, thanks for commenting. What makes you think I messed up my board doing this? Isn’t 14psi the same regardless of the inflation method? The Dewalt tool stops at the desired Psi. It was an issue with the seal from the manufacturer. I returned that one, twice actually. My goal was to show how to use the inflator tool that I carry to do the job. I did end up getting one specifically designed for Sups and will be releasing that video soon. Do you have a board and/or pump that you’d recommend? Just posted a new video with a decimated inflator doing it @9 min

@@SweetAdventures Agreed. I have a cheap Amazon 12V pump that has a small hose since it's designed to pump up tires. I purchased a SUP High Pressure inflator valve. (Shrader valve to Halkey Roberts valve). I initially use my hand pump to put a lot of air in the SUP then I let the 12v pump got for around 20 minutes to get my SUP to 18-20 psi. The pump has a digital display and it's easy to set the max psi so it will stop inflating. The extra 20 minutes is my time to gather up everything I need to my adventure.
