I've been injecting myself using the Enbrel Auto injector for five years now. **Important** There have been instances wherein the auto-injector has failed to fire the needle into the injection site. Before panicking and possibly going through the hassle of trying to exchange this very expensive medicine, TRY the following first. Carefully re-insert the safety cap back into the end of the auto injector. Next, once again remove safety cap and try once again injecting yourself. If it once again fails to fire and inject, repeat the procedure. The reason for re-inserting/removing the end cap is that doing so will reset the "triggering" mechanism in the pen. Good luck !

Hello there! Hope you are doing well! I wanted to ask how is your experience so far with enbrel and what are you using it for. Recently my doctor recommended it to me for ankylosis spondylitis I’m 24 and suffering from AS since i was 16. Now a days i have too much stiffness and pain all over the body all the other medication have side effects on me this is why doctors recommended Enbrel to me. So i wanted to ask you how is your experience so far. Did your condition improved with it? Have any new infection happens to you since this effect your immune system.

It would have been really nice of Embrel to send a demo pen when it's someone's first time using it.

He forgot to tell that you need to use Alcohol pad on the area of injection before hand.

@@rabeyabegumful Absolutely no side effects, was taking it with methotrexate and prednisone at first until it started to work, now no prednisone and half the dose of methotrexate, I will stop taking methotrexate completely in 2 weeks, I feel 100% better since taking it,, very easy to use injector, no pain at all, this medication is amazing, don't hesitate to take it, if you're taking methotrexate and or prednisone this will replace those with no side effects,,, that's how it's working for me, only down side is the cost, $5,000 a month, I have no prescription insurance but qualified for free medication,, talk to your doctor about that, I'm on my 3rd rheumatologist and he is the only one that suggested this and I am very grateful to him,, dont be afraid to see another doctor if you aren't happy with the one you got,, all they care about is the $$$$

I screamed so loud from the pain during the 15-second eternity that my neighbors banged on my door. I get injected with a needle into my eyes every two months , and the pain is nothing compared to this.Your words "sting a little bit" hardly describe this.

I agree. I got my first shot by a nurse and I yelled out. the auto injector wasn't set out to get to room temperature so I wonder if that had anything to do with the extreme bee stinging sensation that occurred on my leg for a bit. The pain ceased after a few seconds as if someone turned a light switch off. But oh my, it hurt. I watched a video on KZbin where a man said it doesn't hurt at all. I don't know about him but I sure as heck felt it. Hoping the next one won't be so bad.

Hi doctor I'm using the embrel do you have to pinch the skin on my thighs to inject because after I get a big bump on my thigh and itches but it goes away about a week I'm I doing it wrong?

How would you taper off this medication? Does it come in anything other than a pre-loaded pen?

I don't believe that it requires tapering off. Yes, my pharmacist changed my delivery method to a small. disposable, prefilled syringe at my request. He said that it may not be always be available in one form or the other at all times. I felt Enbrel after one injection: my pain partially diminished but remained in a manner that was a new experience. Either way, I will save my syringes to return them for proper disposal at my next appointment.

There was stuff missed in the video. 1. take meds out of fridge at least for 30 mins to allow to get to room temp otherwise it will hurt. 2. The side of the auto injector with the needle , You need to have the plastic ring around the needle to be firmly pushed against your skin so all of the circle is firm to the skin otherwise the autoinjector will not release the needle. 3. do not take the cap off needle until you are fully set up (they say not to have the needle cap off for more then 5 minutes) 4. I have done these many times and there should be really no pain unless you do not let it get to room temp , you also want to wipe with wipes before and wash hands . I have had just a bit of blood come out but very little and not always. I have also pulled the needle out a bit to soon and all that happened was liquid came out of where I stuck the needle so you do want to maybe hold the needle in place for like an extra 5 seconds if your ok with it but if you really have trouble doing your shot yourself I get it and I still get a bit nervous Last , it really does help to rotate site but in my case I just switch back from leg to leg and have never done a shot into my arm or stomach.

He said take it out of the fridge 15 minutes prior. In a 70 degree room, 15 minutes is plenty. He said the plastic ring around the needle has to be firmly pushed against the skin. Also showed it in his demo. If you pulled the needle too soon, you must not have waited for the second click.
