There are but they don't give the same results. You can also use the ruffler foot or a gather foot. The gather foot is what we used in industry but its's not as neat as the two stitching lines. And of cause on a lot of machine the ruffler foot is a right pain. So this is how I do it still after 30 years unless I need to gather massive amounts, for which I use the ruffler foot and then adjust if I have to.

Thanks Marina for the reply. Its just that I've seen this method where you sew zigzag over a uhmm strong thread (like floss, wool, etc) and then you pull it. Have you seen it?

A ruffler is great when you do not have to be so accurate of cause but when a pattern specifies a certain amount of density the ruffler really does not give the same resulte.
