There is a lot of debate online about keeping oil injection vs bypassing it and premixing instead. It's nice to hear from people who actually work on and fix these systems regularly and can provide insight on how they work and what sort of inspection/maintenance they require to keep them functioning properly. Excellent video thank you

I am still running an 04 200hp OX66. Thanks for your videos as they help me keep the old girl running. I have read the Yamaha oiler system is very reliable and I have done all of the maintenance you have recommended. So far so good. Keep em coming!

pre-mixing for the 1st tank of the season is what I tell everyone until you verify the system is working.

We agree! It'll smoke a little more but definitely worth it!

If I mix a 50 to 1 ratio on top of my oil injection that wouldn’t hurt the motor will it because I get paranoid out the oil injection failing so I been mixing also my motor still runs fine with the extra oil in the gas

My low oil alarm came on last week, 1998 OX66 250. Verified there was oil in the big tank and that the tank on the motor was at the low fill line. Emergency switch wouldn't turn the transfer pump on, so I ordered a new in line filter and transfer pump. Swapped them out this morning and it's still not transferring oil to the motor. Tried it with the key in the on position and with the boat running. Any suggestions? I assume it's electrical since the lines aren't clogged, filter is new, pump is new, float on the motor tank is working alarm wise.

Is it possible for the gear driven pump to leak on the shaft side and would it flood cylinder #6 with excess oil if it did? Pulled my pump away from the engine case and it has two cycle oil in that area where the shaft fits to the pump. My #6 plug is always oil fouled and everything else checked good, compression, ignition, fuel injection. Trying to figure out the fouling of that plug. All others burn a nice tan color. Is it possible for that pump to send more oil to one of the ports maybe? Do the lines have restrictors or just the check valves? Thanks for any input.

Yes, it is possible. The way to tell is to take the oil pump off and the seal should be in the oil pump. Quite often they fall out when you pull the oil pump off you'd just see the shaft and the seal will be laying inside the block- this happens a lot. It is possible for the pump to send more oil to one of the ports which could be causing that plug to foul. The check valves have the restrictors. Let us know if you have any other questions, you can always call or email as well.

hey man, i have a 91 yamaha 130, i have a alarm going off constantly, i filled the tank on the motor to the line and it still is going off, then i checked to see if the motor on the big reservoir was turning and it was not. would that cause the alarm to go off or do i need to look deeper?

I love my 07 vmax but recently it has started pushing the oil out my carbs and into my air box and enough to make it run down the outside of my lower unit can anyone please tell me what its from
@Oexchange2 жыл бұрын
Henry, are you sure it's carbureted, typically Vmax motors are EFI. Can you email us your model number? info@ outboardexchange . com

Please help. My oil buzzer keeps going off. Level is fine on both tanks. The only thing I have noticed is that the oil pump when checked with light test both wires are reding hot. Power comes in on blue wire and out the black. I'm not sure I know how to test if flow sensor is faulty. Help!

What about hpdi you can't mix gas with oil in tank . Isn't that correct,so how would you test hpdi since you can't mix 50to1 ratio on boat gas tank

We always recommend marking the tank to make sure it's going down but in another one of our videos we show how to test it "The BEST Way to Test Your Yamaha Oil Injection System" kzbin.info/www/bejne/qYi2mJmhg7pgo9U
