how to install a aftermarket radio and a alpine powerpack ktp 455u in a chevy express 2011

hey guys was doing a radio head unit radio install on the chevy express 2011 for a friend and though i would show you the process hope this helps you out with your projects. I also installed a Alpine power pack ktp 455u which puts out great power for being so little.

I know this was 7 years ago... but do you recall where you got Switched Power from? Looking at the plugs that went to the back of the stock radio, there was only continuous power, and the Radio turned off on the datalink (Green wire (GMlan)) but that is a serial 33kbs analog signal. If you remember, great, if not, I may tear into the HVAC or Power Window power. Thank you in advance.

Are used to pac module Which converts the signal. If not check and see if the cigarette lighter goes honour and off with the key and snag it off to cigarette lighter

Do you think its worth it me getting the KTP-445U since it's 45 Watts x 4 @ 4Ω/2Ω and the stereo I'm using is the JVC KW-V340BT with built-in internal amp (22 watts RMS/50 peak x 4 channels) not sure how the peak and RMS work ?

Yo G-Rich, I'm wiring up a KTP-445u power pack to my Toyota Tundra aftermarket stereo harness right now. From the power pack I've got a blue & white wire coming out, but on my harness I've got only a solid blue wire. Should just go ahead & connect these two together?

you can try solid blue is usually just power antenna

Yup the wire from the stereo harness does say Antenna on it. The manual for the power pack says that the blue/white wire is a Remote Turn-on. Off the top of your head you think they'll work together?

You could do idatalink maestro (need to order the harness for meastro to vehicle as well or a pac rp4 version of the module as it will have steering wheel control module built into the unit

hey man, I finally got my radio in my savana 2013. Now am planning to change the door speaker. You know what size are they. Also planning to put a subwoofer in between the driver and passenger seat. I already wired the RCA cable at the back of the radio. What the best route to run cable from the battery to the amp. Also I need to run the cable underneath the carpet so that it look nice.

Hi bro I have a chevy express 04, I have a few questions, I had an aftermarket stereo previously installed which was stolen, so heres my questions 1. Do you need a data bus module or is it just there for convenience? 2. I need to install a boss double din radio/dvd/mp3 I need to connect my 4 channel speaker amp, my subwoofer amp, my car's tv and my radio antenna. Now all of it is RCA except the radio antenna so the aftermarket radio harness is capped off. Now I just need to know how im gonna get power, do I still have to open up all the caps on the radio and connect all of them to the radios harness or is there another way to get power? Sorry for the loooonnnng comment.

Bilal Lodhi car insurance not covering it ? you could try picking up the regular non data harness and wiring the red wire from the harness to the cigarette lighter then match the rest of the colors to the harness

ghostlyrich nope they wouldnt cover it. I already have the non data aftermarket harness, so youre saying I will have to take off the caps frkm the car's aftermarket harness and solder them to the radio's harness to get power if I dont want a data module?

Bilal Lodhi wait is there are currently butt connectors hanging off the aftermarket harness??? yea just solder it up plug it in and see if it works. if the radio does not turn on run a wire from the cigarette lighter to the red wire on the radio harness :D

Quick question after I tore my dash apart I found 2 micro USB behind the dash they wire tied up with tape my van didn't come with any USB ports but these seem to be the cables used for USB ports. Any recommendations of what I should do with these as my stereo came with its own USB port?

I would leave them tied up and just use USB sticks to play music. If you have Android auto or apple car play built into your new stereo screen can always run a new usb cable for your phone

If it stays on forever, it means that it is not a switched accessory, in which case you would benefit from getting the pac module. I would suggest grabbing one from amazon and make it easy

I'm bit confused about the hardness, they sell one with a module, and just a simple kit for mounting the stereo with the hardness my question is this my truck doesn't have bell and whistles is just a plain cargo truck no onstar or gps do i need the most expensive hardness kit or just the simple one, will my signal light's, and chimes will they still works, with the simple harness if anybody has the answer please let me know thanks

How come no body shows how to dis connect the antenna cable. I have mr dash apart and radio loose but cant get my antenna to come out of radio. Its on a 2018 GMC Savanna Van

There should be a Barb usually on it that just slides in. If not and it is a factory antenna feel for a squeeze tab to slide it out the connector

I quickly just looked up your van on Metra and it looks like yours is one of the ones where it has a Barb and there's probably a little clip that's hanging over that barb so you lift the clip to slide it out

You buy the 5$ harness then when wiring it up the red wire onthe harness needs to go to a switched accessory like for a example the cigarette lighter

this is a nightmare installation. allot of it is due to having all the things necessary to remove the dash bezel. the next challenge is hooking up the wiring. nothing about this was fun.
