Take care, don’t only disconnect the negative pole of the battery. Your frm module can be broken of that.

You don't have to disconnect the battery at all. Just open the door and do nothing for 10 minutes and don't klick any switches. The car is going into a deep standby mode where it is safe to disconnect or connect airbags.

If you have a LCI / facelift E90/91/92 etc. - DON'T do it this way, it will ruin the rubbery backside of your steering wheel, if you pry that way! Instead you have to just slightly and carefully poke in at about a 45° angle. The poking alone does release the airbag. No prying necessary at all. I wish I wouldn't have tried it that way.
