Thank you for adding different connections to the remote control because the manual doesn't show the red wire like we had. Btw we were able to insert the remote control but either the light works or the fan. We don't know why they both can't be used with the remote control. We left the fan part working because it was set on high and now we can lower the speed. The light we'll just use the wall switch if we need it.

For future viewers, please include this in the description: Related to the connections described at 4:10 in the video, it should be mentioned that you have to connect the RED and TWO BLACK/+ wires in the wall switch wiring to complete the circuit. Without joining all three together, I was getting no power. I think if there's a problem with this setup, the breaker should pop.

Hi @geckotube9 I have two wall switches w dimmer function. Does your comment apply in my case?
@geckotube9 Жыл бұрын
@@anasmith4249 Hi, it's been several months since I did this installation, but if you have separate wall switches for the light and the fan, I think the comment I made applies. It's related to where they say you have to connect the blue wire from the fan to the "live wire" in the ceiling. That same live wire connection needs to be made on the new fan switch.

I'm a novice at wiring, I have a dual wall switch and ran into issues. I followed the directions (the printed guide that came with the unit and this video) as described at 4:10, and the fan works but the light does not. I switched the wiring to a single wall switch and neither worked. I wonder, though, if I truly have a dual switch system since 1 of the switches works for a wall power outlet and the other works for the ceiling junction box. Thoughts?
@geckotube9 Жыл бұрын
Hey Jake, in my setup there are three wall switches -- one for an outlet, and the other two for the fan (one for the fan, one for the fan light). If you have only one wall switch dedicated to the fan (and light), you will have use the wiring scheme to power both from the single switch, and you'll have to use the pull switches (or wireless remote) to control the fan and light separately. Hope this helps.

Where's the part about how the remote receiver fits into the box/bracket with all that wire. I just returned the ceiling fan to Lowe's because of two things, once you installed the downrod into the bracket, the decorative collar what's the high to the ceiling that it only left you about an inch to get your fingers in there and connect wires much less squeeze the remote receiver into the same area. I really couldn't even fit the remote receiver in after taking everything out of the bracket.

In theory a toggle switch should work to just give power not dim or speed . That should work with remote but I can’t find any videos or instructions on this for myself. Im building a new house and I need to know how to wire in the ceiling.. because what happens if you lose the remote? You can’t turn the fan off and the light with out it? @dylan10083 жыл бұрын
@@PorkPie89 did you ever figure out how to solve this problem?
@PorkPie893 жыл бұрын
@ Dylan. From how I understood it. The fan has to be wired as directed because there is a wireless receiver in the fan that controls the light. The short story is, don’t lose that remote. What I am doing in my home is having the electrician wire the room for two separate wires incase I ever change the fan and need two separate wires to control the light and fan speed.

There is a special place in you-know-where for the people that designed this product. There’s a hook that you can hang the light on to support its weight while you do the wiring. That’s brilliant. However, you can’t angle the fan enough to get it onto the hook because the blades hit the ceiling. So paint the picture, you removed the weight bearing screws for the fan, it’s connected to the ceiling by wires, and now you can’t get it onto the hook. Your options are to rehang it with the screws or leave the fan suspended by the wires, which is an advisable. I addressed the problem by removing one of the fan blades. However, they are held in place by three screws. Two of them are no problem, the third one is tucked under the housing in a way that you can’t get a screwdriver in there to get a purchase. Immensely frustrating. I was able to remove two of the screws while supporting the weight of the entire fan with one hand and then pivot the blade on the third screw. By pivoting that blade, I was able to get enough clearance that I could angle the fan sufficiently to get it on the hook, solving that problem. Mine had a cover that had three slots that were supposed to slide into tabs on the mounting plate. The cover is made from cheap, thin metal and the tabs all bent when I tried to remove it so it was nearly impossible to get off, and then back on. The whole thing was a nightmare of consumer insensitive design flaws. I’ll never buy a Hunter fan again as long as I live. My only hope now is that I die before I need to replace this fan. If the fan dies first, I’ll get a different brand.
